Angry My 07 Z got broken into today! So how could they do it???

So my car got broken into today. They took my XM radio that I hated and my 8500 that I loved but could not come up with an excuse to buy a newer model. But these thieves truly helped me! I am going to order a newest model passport today.

However when I came to my car the door was open. There was no damaged to the car and the windows were in tact. So how could they break into 2007 350z? Don’t they have a pretty good security? Makes me worry about future security in my car.

P.S. These idiots did not take my $400.00 watch that I left in my car nor my $300.00 pool stick.

Its really not that hard to break into a car now a days. You sure the car was locked? When I got my keys locked in my mazda it took them just under 1 min to get into my car. With the right tools anything is possible. Since there was no damage I bet they had something like an airbag that they would slip between the door and a pillar and then inflate the bag, it would give them engough room to just simply use a tool to unlock the door.

dont leave items like radar detectors plugged in, only gives more reason to break in. also invest in a 2 way paging alarm

must have not been locked. i had two locksmiths, one that had over 25 years of experience with getting into cars, try and get into my car. both failed miserably. i had to wait close to 6 hours before my wife brought me my spare key

how did they get in?? mine was an attempt but all i got was a shattered driverside window, seat tilted forward box disconnected and thats it. since my alarm wasnt disengaged my doors wouldnt unlock even if ya tried manually, couldnt get my box cuz my hatch wouldnt unlock either and the car sat like that for a whole day cus i was out of town for the weekend. so im really curious how they got into yours with no damage.....do u have an alarm??

+1 - exact same thing happend to me - though mine only sat for 30-60 minutes after the breakin. They took nothing and I got a new window and the whole side of the car repainted - was a total pain in the a$$ tho.

frameless windows are likely not that hard to jam something in the molding and pop the door open.

you got it It doesn't help that we have the motor where each time we open and close teh door, an inch goes up and down. that's where the z is vulnerable. I can break into my car less than a minute.

My 03 got broken into last weekend, stole my gun. My mistake for leaving it in there in the first place. Anyway, they got in by using a coat hanger or slimjim to unlock the passenger door.

Wow what an eye-opening thread! Thank god I have low-jack, but even then that wont stop someone from breaking in! Can this tactic be used in the ignition?<BumpKey>

doesnt help that the inside door opener latches are curved and can easily hold something in there if they hook something in there to pop the door open.

Even without this stuff, if they want it, they will get it.

Another thing on the windows popping down an inch it does this for sealing purposes. Almost all my frameless cars did this except my Supra

This is an eye opening thread.

What can we do to prevent break-ins? Alarm system? That more $$$$.

I don't keep anything expensive in my car ... but I am worried about my in dash NAV.
