Why do I need to run into the retarded Z owners?

Many '07 owners have beaten bolt-on '03-'06 Z's from stops, rolls and at the track. The non-revup engines did produce more torque than the revup and HR, so that's most likely where you're getting the "faster" feeling from.

Sounds like you're the one with the problem. Can't we have a nice discussion without crap posts like this? My post was from a 350z noob perspective. I am not partial to any particular year. As I said, I got the 03 just to wait till 2009-2010 cause IMO the 07-08 wasnt worth the price WHEN you factor in the fact that an very updated Z is around the corner.
Put it this way, I neither know nor care which is more powerful or who can beat who; I just know that I found the 03 more fun to drive than either the 06 or 07. Period!

My point about the different years is that the VQ35DE non-revup will feel faster because it has more torque. The revup has less torque but more hp, but they turn out fairly similar times/traps as the non-revup. The '07 has the most hp and different gearing... while it might not feel faster, it really is.

. Let me also add that if the redisign sucks
, then I will be getting an 08 late next year and passing the 03 on to my brother.
So I'm not in anyway hating on 07/08 Z's. I want a more refined car than the 03; I always did. BUT I both wanted a Z now and wanted to wait til I see the redisign b4 putiing out $30-40K. The 03 only cost me $18K with tax, title, and license

People from other forums much laugh at us for talking **** about other z33's.
BTW, The 07 has the same gearing as the rest of the z33's...

My point was why would a stock Z owner, or nearly stock Z owner feel the need to show me how big his ***** were? Its the same car. . .well minus the fact that stock for stock the 07's have 20more hp, but a little less tq.
To me it didnt make much sense.
As far as the guy who made the comment about me dieing. Get real dude. please.
I am not an 18yr old kid. Not that I mess around on the streets, but I prob have more RWD and more HI HP car experience then you do. Crashing my car while doing a straight line pull is the last of my worries. If I ever decide to do that. i am not stupid about it. I cherish my life as well as the nice things I have.

I've been away from the forums for some time, so I wasn't up to date on the 07 changes. News of oil consumption was news to me as well. What happened to the good ole days of tire feathering, haha. I don't have magazine numbers handy, what's the 0-60 and 1/4 mile differences from pre 07's to the 07's?

Someone mind explaining to me how the 07 has less torque than the non revup motor? Last time I checked, the 03's were not rated using the new stricter SAE rating. The 03 was 287hp/274tq, the 07 is 306hp/268tq SAE. At worst it has as much tq as the non rev up motor, if not a bit more. It doesn't "feel" fast because the torque is very linear through out the whole powerband. The non rev up motor dies after what, 6200rpm? Ok....

Let us know when stock pre-06 Z's trap higher/run quicker than stock 07 Z's.
Maybe I test drove a bad one, dunno. But recently I test drove an 07 6MT enthusiast b4 I bought a used, well taken care of 03. I went with the 03 in order to hold me over and wait for the 2009-2010 new model because quite frankly the 07's interior was nicer BUT the ride was not as thrilling as driving the 03.
I have no in depth knowledge of these cars so perhaps I was able to be more objective. The 07 was more "refined" I guess you could say, but the 03 enthusiast I decided on had hellified torque and and you felt it. IMO, driving the 03 put a big smile on my face whereas driving the 07 did not. I got the 07 on the street and interstate to "open it up" so to speak, but I never really saw where anything actually "opened up". It may have, but I just didnt feel it. The 03 enthusiast on the other hand made me feel like I was in a real, throw me back in my seat sports car. The 03 definitely got up the street much faster. Now what happens after 80mph I wouldn't know because quite frankly I wont be driving over that speed much if it all. So power bands at the high end have no real daily driving value.
You can say whatever you want about "hating" or whatever because I am not. I was thoroughly interested in getting an 07-08, but I wasnt as impressed by it as I was with the 03 (interior aside). So I decided to wait for the 2009-2010 and get the 03 to hold me over. Couldn't see spending $30k plus for something that wasnt as fun as the 03 I tested.
BTW - the used 03 was stock"
So let me get this straight, you are only going to get the car up to 80 mph most of the time and will RARELY go over that speed and you bought a Z? So basically you just spent all that money on 2 gears.......maybe 3?
