I have an 05 STi. I may be biased but I do like the look of it compared to the newer one and definately compared to the concept pics of the 2008 . If it performs though, what car enthusiast can knock it? We'll see.

Transmission, weight, small turbos, lol...what else? I'm still a fan of them, but they feel more comfortable than sporty. I saw the picture of the new evo and sti next to each other... i don't know what to think about them yet.

Low-end torque is definitely nothing to complain of.

If AWD is so great why does the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, not use this layout?

I'll take the 350Z's RWD anytime. Thats one of the reasons I love this car.

IMO AWD sports cars use AWD to overcome the FWD underpinnings of the base model car they are based on. The WRX is a good example of this happening.

My uneducated guess is that they don't use it b/c they can get the performance they need without a necessity for the front wheels to provide traction. An underlying reason in my theory there would be weight savings also. To each his own. RWD is awesome, I however got bored of AWD four cylinders being two car lengths ahead of me by the 1/8th and trying to play catch up in the last 1/8th. Like I said though, to each his own.

Don't be such a fanboy and do some research. Opposed to the Lancer, the Impreza models were engineered from the STi BACKWARDS down to the lowliest model of Impreza. You would have been correct if you would have used the Evo as an example of that, but here...you're wrong.

BTW, have you ever driven an AWD/Turbo'd car before?
