Stock drivetrain loss percentage
Hi all -
I searched the thread db, but didn't come up with anything for this. I'm sure it's been asked though, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating.
I've seen several dyno's now that put the stock whp of the Z at around 228. This seems rather low to me. If this is true, it means that there is a greater than 20% drivetrain loss in power. That would even be high for an AWD car, but it seems nearly rediculous for a RWD sports car. I've also seen people claiming upwards of 240 whp stock, which seems a little more realistic. 240 whp would translate to about a 16% drivetrain loss.
Is it possible that the differences are in the environments in which the cars were dyno'd? I've read rumors of the car's ECU being limited until 5K miles, but I think that idea has been disproven. I just went over 5K miles on my Z and feel no difference. Can someone help me out here? I want to understand why there is such a large drop in power.
Thanks,
Scott
