Default Traumatized!!!!!!!!!!

As many of you know im on Z#2. Nedless to say im loving it ive been driving her everyday and having a blast but..............

When i bought Z#1 it was an 04 and the clutch burnout on me around 40,000 miles. When i test drove this one which has 36,000 miles the clutch felt really hard on it. Now that ive drove it all weekend the clutch is starting to feel a lot softer and it scaring the **** out of me because im really not in the mood to spend 2 G's on a clutch replacement again. I bought the car with an extended premium plus bumper to bumper warranty. Will it cover the clutch if it goes out? and one more thing when i parked just now i was looking for the smell that i will never forget when my first clutch went out and i smell nothing. Is it just me? maybe im use to the driving it again since i didnt have a Z for 4 months?

Your clutch will most likely not be covered under your extended warranty.

If it's a bumper to bumper warranty, then yes it will be covered. Open your warranty booklet and look for what the exclusions are. In the case of a bumper-to-bumper, exclusions are only tires, wheels, and non-factory parts.

Don't take this the wrong way, but do you really know how to avoid feathering the clutch?

If two clutches are "going bad" on you one after another it starts to point to the driver, not the cars.

want to know the ****** thing is about warrantys? once you place a major modification on your engine (sometimes minor)....your warranty no longer exists...that is unless you turn everything back to stock and reset your ECU before you take it in to get warranty work done on the car..

I've been driving for 12 years now and every single car that i have owned. have been standard transmission. I've never had problems with the clutch before until the Z. And both of them are pre-owned so i have no idea how the driver before me rode it.

Fair enough, sounds like you got a couple of cars where their prior owners feathered the clutch excessively. Good luck!

through my own and my friends experience a clutch is not covered under any type of warranty, unless its complete andt catastrophic failure, a clutch is just like a set of tires for instance, it will eventually wear out depending on how you drive, if they did warranty it, everyone would ride the **** out of their clutch at the end of the warranty period to get a new one.

and as for this statement, it's not always true, the dealership has to prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure otherwise they cannot void your warranty

You make an excellent point. and its good to know about the aftermarket parts causing the failure to void the warranty since i have a few mods on my car.

if you spend 2g's on a new clutch...your spending like 1200 too much.

Before the Z I bought a pre-owned Integra Type R, with 8000 miles. At 12,000 miles the friction plates disintegrated. I was in traffic and couldn't get it into any gear. Totally fried. Acura replaced it via a one time courtesy, which was awesome. Moral is, the kid who owned it before me must have been a total drag-racing idiot, dropping the clutch, riding it, etc. He must have beat the crap out of it in just 8,000 short miles, cause it completely failed on me. I've been driving since 1991, and have never had to replace the clutch on the 3 other vehicles I've owned in that time. This is one if the reason's why I sweat when I think about buying another car that's pre-owned to avoid new car depreciation...

True, but if you pay $2k on a clutch it's because you went to the dealer and they used OEM parts. OEM flywheel cost is $1057, by itself.

I've had my Z for less than two months and I have to replace the clutch. It's an '03 with 77k on the meter. I doubt it going out has to do with my style of driving but I guess we'll see what happens to the JWT parts that are going in next week.

Yeah thats pretty much what hapenned to me when i had the red one. the clutch was completly gone just after a month and half. Tried to get Nissan to cover it or meet me halfway for me since i just bought the car, and it was still under the warranty period, but of course Nissan said FU. This one one feels fine but when im driving around in the back of my head i just keep thinking about the damn clutch. I wish there was a way to figure out what kind of condition the clutch is in. I notice also that i can have the car in second gear with the clutch completly out and the car just keeps going like at 2,000 rpms is that because of the mods that have been done to the car already? my red one didnt do that even after i replaced the clutch. Any help or suggestions will be greatly apprecite it.
