I still think Nissan's paint or painting process is flawed. Seriously, my sister's 2006 Solara looked great after as many miles, nary a chip let alone all the little impressions on the bumper. I gave it a serious inspection just before she traded it in a couple weeks ago. I'm gonna take a look at my neighbor's TL later as well.

I really can't believe more people aren't outraged about this. I guess consumers are just complacent these days.

Not really, just gauging interest and feasibility.

no hate here, just some things to think about.
I completely disagree on this. Just about every vehicle I have ever owned I've been proud of in some way. The looks of the vehicle is the first thing someone sees, so you try to keep it looking good. You go out and buy any new vehicle and its gonna cost a good amount of money. Its not like going out and buying something you can just throw away if you don't like it. So tghe paint on any car is going to be important.

I do agree tho about taking the proper precautionary steps to protecting it. I didn't do it and now I'm regretting it. I figured the paint would hold up a little better. But honestly it just gives me an excuseto go aftermarket and then really protect the paint.

Believe me im with u the paint quality is definetly not the best but what can you do.Nissan would fight you til the death on this one it took a member on here months for his 06 oil consumption problems for them to buy the car back and thats a serious problem. This paint problem they would have a field day with this legal suit. There only out to get your dollar

Too bad...I hate people that think like this. What are you going to do, try to claim damages?

Nissan's money needs to go into new cars & features...not into the hands of complainers.

Maybe you should sue the state for allowing rocks to exist on earth.

I just spent $1300 to have mine redone and I only have 45,000 miles on my car. It looked like it was sand blasted. My last car had 87,000 miles when I sold it and it only had about 3 little chip and they were only to the primer. I expect a lot better out of a $30,000 car than cheep paint that chips when you sneeze on it.

Nissan does have bad paint. it is not all manufacturers. I have had in the last 5 years an 02 celica, 03 nissan altima, 05 ford mustang, 05 c6 vette, and now 06 Z. both the altima and the z chipped liked crazy compared to all my other vehicles. My C6 vette and 05 mustang actually had the best front end paint. About 2 months ago I installed a front spoiler and had them repaint my bumper along with it and it is holding up so much better than the factory paint. Nissan paint just sucks!

Proof?

Sueing somebody over defective tires that explode and cause the vehicle to rollover is one thing. It's easy to find lawyers who are willing to invest the time and money to hire experts to analyze the product and PROVE that there's a problem. Why? Because loss of limb or life is possible and the potential lawsuit awards are staggering.

Do you seriously think a lawyer is going to fund the discovery process for defective paint? He's going to expect you to pay the bills, including his.

If this is your obsession, your quest, your goal in life, then by all means pursue it. Maybe in 15 or 20 years you'll get some satisfaction in the form of a $100 credit toward a paint job for your Z.

State Farm got nailed for sub par repairs, using non OEM parts.

I don't think it would be out of the question for Nissan to be sued, for selling a product with an inferior finish.

Clear bra is the only way to go. Paint will get chipped from rocks and other debris.

Unless your paint was pealing off for an unkown reason, the rock chips are normal wear and tear....Hate to say it..

I spent 600 for clear bra on my Airwalker kit, headlights, fenders, eyelids, and part of sideskirts and it was the best money I have spent in a while!! ITs been almost 2 years with my kit and it still looks brand new!!

You're right, no one should be accountable for anything unless someone has died.

If this is your obsession, your quest, your goal in life, then by all means pursue it. Maybe in 15 or 20 years you'll get some satisfaction in the form of a $100 credit toward a paint job for your Z.
Are you kidding me? As I stated many times, IANAL and I was just trying to see if this was even plausible. Apparently it's not.

Great job on the censorship, by the way. Truly a "super" moderator.

Judging by the condition of my car (and other Nissans) compared to most other modern cars with similar mileage...yes!

How close do you drive behind cars on highway there? If your close your going to get dusted! You could have one car that stays 3-4 car lengths back religeously and you may drive 2 feet from people....THe answer is yes your car will look worse off with WAY more rock chips!!

THis thread is hilarious!! Keep up the posts its making the friday go by much faster then normal!! LOL
