If you are into performance, you don't buy a base you buy a Enthusiasts. You want the LSD. The traction control is also nice for bad weather. But when your on a road course the LSD is really needed. Base will get left behind without it because its spinning one tire coming out of turns.

True, but the VLSD isn't the best limited slip option out there. It's a compromise LSD for those that need everyday livability.

i bought a base and my first to mods were a vlsd pumpkin and 6000k hid's that i got for around 500 together. traction control would be nice but not worth a couple thousand dollars. i have to say if i didn't get the pumpkin i would of sold the car . driving the z with an open diff really makes it a crappy car.

Yeah but the majority of people that buy these cars aren't going to swap out their LSD for an aftermarket one.
Thus the reason why base owners don't care about performance as much as higher model owners.
It's just like buying a v6 mustang or a mustang gt.

I think you're kinda comparing apples to pickles. A mustang V6 doesn't even have close to the drivetrain of the GT. While the 350z base has about 98% of the drivetrain of the other trim models.

i was talkin bout price. they paid for a newer 300hp motor that came stock on all models in 06. they paid for "special" 18" wheels....that came stock on 06, 06 came in with bi-xenons, LEDs, and variable steering ratio (not on 35th anni).

all im saying is that 06 base owners paid 10 grand less than 35th anniversary owners for ALMOST the same car.

i do agree 07s are faster.

the only people that DIDNT get shafted were people who got 03s without paying a premium.

Base or top of the line edition, it really doesn't matter. All that matters is if you got what you wanted. I would only buy a base model if I was going to mod the hell out of it. But as it is, I only have a few mods planned. So I got a Grand Touring. I like to race with style...

Awww, c'mon guys, no one should be Hatin' on the Base. The Z is a great car all around.

I think that when you buy a Z, you have to balance what you want with what you can afford, what is available in your area, and what you are willing to compromise (new/used/milage/etc).

I mean I got the "basic" roadster - which is the enthusiast - and I felt bad for about one minute. I would have loved a GT, but the car I bought was totally the right car for me.

I say, if people are hating on your base, tell them to F-off and go enjoy your car.

I dont get why people are bothering to argue between the base and other models. I bought the base my self but for the main reason that I was going to switch to better LSD and Brake kit compared to the other models.

A Vette is a Vette, a Z is a Z. Only members here have more to say than others outside this forum. So, if you have a base model, people outside this forum will only know that you have a Z. I don't think a Z casual observer is going to say, "hahaha, look he has a base model!!!" I'm not comparing a Z06 or a Nismo 350Z. The only thing I hate about base model is no HID in pre-2005s, the only reason I got a level higher at the time.

Its like the How many miles do you have? thread. The posts are meaningless. No one reads them. Yet everyone can participate.

You gotta think outside the box to understand what i'm saying. I'm not comparing the actual engines, just features...
Now people that want to make a drag car always buy the v6 mustang. Why? Because all they care about is the body and all the factory stuff was going to get replaced anyways.

Mustang v6= base model, cheapest, no options, intended for the people who like the looks but don't care about the performance

Mustang GT= middle model, more expensive, good options, intended for people with performance in mind
