Locked my keys in my trunk
I must say I'm a little embarrassed, but I locked my keys in my trunk over the weekend and had to get AAA to bust me in. I put my keys in my trunk while I was loading in my bags, closed the trunk, and it was locked! Shouldn't it remain unlocked after you've opened it? RTFM I guess.
Anyhow, it took 2 different guys 1 1/2 hours to unlock my car, which I guess is a good thing. They couldn't open it using the normal slimjim-type tools, and eventually got it open using a straight rod that they used to depress the unlock button through the side of the pass. window.
The guys said that the Z and the Toyota Highlander were the hardest to crack, and Ford/Mercedes/Hondas were the easiest ... huh, who knew?

I immediately got a key made for my wallet for just this type of thing
Nobody had those wallet key sets, so I just got a regular Nissan key (without the plastic cover) made off the main key. It won't start the car since it doesn't have the chip, but it will get me in the door if I do something dumb

I just locked my keys in my 350Z at the 7-11 tonight while the vehicle was running, took the guy 2 minutes to unlock it for $45. He used a inflatable bag to crack the closed window open and then used a long slim bent metal pole to hit the unlock button on the drivers side. In this instance he could of also rolled the driver side window down as well. Pretty EASY to steal if you ask me.

Funny..This happened to me on vacation about a month ago. Same scenario..Popped open the hatchback and set my keys down along/the luggage. Shut the hatchback and realized I hadn't unlocked the car....
The locksmith arrived w/a wedgepump...used it on the side of the window and had it unlocked w/no damage in less than 30 seconds. Joking with the guy I said "Damn man...You're dangerous!" He said it was the first Z he's had to open, but he had been at a convention the previous week where a Z was used as an example of the wedge pump.....and he only charged me 20$...So I gave him 40....LOL.
The dealer wanted 70$ for a programmed key and couldn't guarantee it would work on the first try....

I started keeping a key in my wallet 15 years ago, after getting stranded in the Rocky Mountains on the Fourth of July. I had to bust the window.
I store the regular sized key. My wallet is always fat anyway...just don't wear tight jeans.
