driver error. did you take the car to 7500rpm? even if it doesnt feel like its faster, it reality it is. my friend's 91 240sx "felt" fast, very torquey, but it small pick up trucks would out run it.

The clutch is softer, less of a jerker at launch, and the new engine is tuned for better mid and top acceleration. What you noticed is true, in a seat of the pants feel.

because, the 03's had monster torque down low, probably on the same lines as the 07, off the line the 07 shouldnt be much if not any faster. when you actually get to the part that matters most in the upper end 5000rpm + is when the HR ownz. dont tell me you are one of those, rev people at the red lights and race to the next red light type person.

i can safely say that i have never rev'd my motor at a stop light lol... but i do love a car with low-end torque (like you said.. the '03, my buddy cayman S also pulls very hard off the line). I need to go test drive an 05, an 06, and an 07 one more time, and decide...

I say that because coming from my 04 that was modded to my stock 07. It pulled the same if not harder. Maybe the 07 you drove is faulty? When I test drove the 07 for the first time I was impressed either, probally because i didn't romp on it. When I started driving it there was a clear difference.

I didnt get a feel for the power much at all on my test drive. I was impressed with its handling and the way it picked up on light pulls.
I honestly dont think i took it over 4K on the test drive. With more seat time in it, you deff feel it is impressive. I still think the top end is not all that great though. But I am used to cars with much more HP or higher power bands and turbos.
But this car could deff use some better flowing exhaust parts I think and it will wake up more. But with more time on a regular drive you will see it is nothing short of thrilling.

i posted something a ways back after i test drove a base '07 automatic. I didn't think it was as fast as my modded '03 untill i raced one. They are quicker, but not really untill 70mph. No denying it though, once the mods come out for the '07... even with little to no luck with HP gains, it will be undeniable that the new engine performs better. Fact of life, newer is better (women, cars, electronics)

My Z is plenty fast. If you weren't impressed with the '07, it's not like the '03 or '06 are all that different.
I suggest you test drive an Enzo, you might be impressed.

Could it be because the new Z is not as "rough around the edges"?

I bought my 07 last thursday and raced my roomates 07 evo off the line. He had me by 3/4 car length to about 65-70. And hes a better driver then I. I was pretty impressed the Z did so well. I put about 500 miles on it over the weekend and it does seem to be adjusting alot. Hopefully I can pull on him from a 40 roll to 100+ =p.

It cracks me up that this has turned into an 07 vs. 06 vs. 03-05 debate. They are all basically the same car (granted the 07's engine is 80% new) but even with the new internals we aren't talking about that much of a power difference. Shouldn't we all just be happy to be Z owners. Different engines have different advantages and disadvantages, so just be happy with what you have and don't try to make everybody else feel like their car isn't as good. I love my 03 and I really like the 07's. Why do we have to argue about stupid stuff when we all love the Z?

I agree everyone gets butt hurt. But people posting these are stupid.
The 07 has more power. End of convo. The 07 runs faster according to every publicised place in the world. End of convo.

This does not mean the 03-06's are worthless at all.

yeah it really wasnt supposed to be an 07 vs. 03-06 thread... it was supposed to be a "how much more power(if any) can i expect from the 07 when the engine runs for a couple thousand miles?" thread... i thought it was a legit question but apparently not...

But you are right, i loved the 03 and i loved the 07, so i just need to shut up and go get one...

30 hp on a dyno is a pretty damn good power difference. Going from 245-250~ to 270-280rwhp now.

if the 07's have 270-280whp then that means they have ~340-350HP at crank?
