Default Test drove an '07 Touring coupe yesterday...

... and to my disbelief i was not THAT impressed. I was not blown away. I mean dont get me wrong the car is fast, sounds great, drives great, and looks gorgeous in white, BUT i did not get that kick off the line like i was expecting. I hate to say it but the 03 enthst that i drove about 2 weeks ago seemed much quicker and more powerful. The power delivery seemed kinda weird and laggy...

My question is, the car had only 20 miles on it, so im sure that played a part, in that the engine has not been "broken in" yet. Can i expect a significant change with "off the line" power when the engine is at about 3k miles("broken in")? I want to feel that TORQUE!!!

Difference is the car hasn't been broken in, the car's ecu hasn't adjusted to a owner driving the car so it's still in that learning stage.

The HR engine is strong.

Go find a used 07 and see if there's a difference. I know they are hard to some by, but I have already seen a few!

yeah thats the thing, it sounded very strong and seemed strong as the car was above 25 mph, but off the line it seemed a bit weak... like all that power im hearing isnt ditributed to the wheels properly.. but i see what you're saying about the learning stage.

On the 2007, the ECU will kick in an additional 20 HP at 3,000 miles. That’s what I heard.

That's completely correct. It also kicks in an additional 20HP every 3,000 miles thereafter, maxing out at 580.

That's what I heard. For real.

I wish that was the case.... My car dyno'd at 270rwhp at ~2400miles and it hasn't changed since.

I would really love to know where people come up with these theories sometimes.

It might get a little faster once broken in, but not enuff that you will feel. Your ECU is not going to compensate really much at all if even at all to your driving style. That is a myth. Unless an engineer who has decoded the Nissan software or Nissan themselves tell me otherwise, people are just talking out their holes.
Honestly, yes they are pretty fast, but they shouldnt throw you in your seat fast. nor should a pre 07. Its only a 230-270whp car in the 3k lb range. What do you expect?

IMO the ease it takes to get up to speeds and the pure bliss on a spiritied drive in the twisties impressed me.
Now I gotta go drive an 03 apparently to see what Im missing. lol

well, I just dyno'd mine after 300k miles and it only has 574 hp, so that theory is wrong

That's incorrect. The stock ECU limits the HP to 500whp. You need to reflash the ECU to gain additional HP (it's actually 25whp every 5K miles) with a maximum NA HP at 600.

Buy the 03 Z - it's faster I promise.

LOL@this thread!

I just hit 10k on my '06 and the crank hp is now at 375. Can't wait for 13k so I can claim a nice 400hp!

Go hard or go home y'all!
