Well, since these aren't performance changes, I will call then mick-nacks for now and leave it at that. I had collected a few in the last weeks and finally it came time to install. Spent all day Sunday out on the Florida sun installing nick-nacks...
Here is the stash : JDM Horns, clear side markers with amber lights, a 6th wire for the grounding kit. The phone and iced tea was not to be installed...

Here is my baby with her top off! The black things on the sides are the fenderwell covers. The hardest part was to raise the car since it is lowered (Eibach Springs) and my floor jack would not fit, so I had to lift it some with the scissors, than raise it with the floor jack, then use the stands.

Here you see the original horns. Easy install, one screw each, two wires, no problem.

New horns on :

Here is the 6th wire of Insaneanime grounding kit.

Clear markes on. They have amber lights and blink in tune with the signal lights, but only at night when they are on. Installation was easy, all the needed wire "T"s came with it.

Since I had my wheels off, and a wash was coming next, I decided to wash them. I noticed all the specs for the rims are on there. I took a picture just in case...

And, the final product. At this point my camera got full and I was too tired to go download, etc...

I think I have gained 0.001hp out of the horns, wire and markers. But that is just a butt-dyno measurement...

Believe it or not... I don't know.
Horns went on first, and after all the other work, the heat, etc, etc... I don't think I have heard them yet!
I'll try to collect a sound bite later today...

Do you think you could have installed the horns without removing the bumper? (since, they're so easy) I know you took off the bumper for the side lenses. I'd also love to hear what the horns sound like. Thanks!
I had/have air horns(there aint no way their fitting in the Z) and if those little things can come half way to a set of airhorns, watch out. mine would blow your ears out if you were in front of it, and I was told by friends that they heard my horn from as much as a mile away. the horn was impossible tho, it blew any fuse I put it on. could only hit it for 3 seconds at a time.
anyway, love the clear markers, possibly my favorite color for clear. looks nice.

You might be able to get the horns in without taking the bumper off, but you better have very small hands and a good treshold for pain and scratches. You probably would have to come up from under, which is a long way up for your arms.
I went to lunch. They sound a higher note than I expected. I barely used the stock ones, so hard to tell.
The 6th wire went to the bolt that holds the air cleaner box in place, right side. The round black device you see right behind my air cleaner is the siren for my alarm (they had a hard time finding a spot for it).
The markers are from Skidazzle and they went on perfect. I had a little problem with the driver side wiring, my clumsy. When I got it right they worked perfect. I like that they match the rear clear reflectors under the lights.
I LOVE my redhead...

Taking the bumper off held back the project for quite a long time. I just wanted to make sure I had the time and it would not rain half way or turn dark, etc. After reading many threads here, here is what I did :
1. Lifted car, set jackstands and remove front tires.
2. Removed the 3 black clips on each fenderwell. and 2 10mm on each side underneath. The fenderwell cover should come off by now.
3. Removed the 10mm bolts all along the bottom of front end.
4. There are two screws on each side right under the lights that hold the bumper cover tight against the light edge. They are screwed "up".
5. Now the top black thingis along the top edge of the bumper. Some go in tight. Took some prying, be carefull not to break them.
The bumper cover just slides off the car onto your hands. After worrying about it, it was a EASY piece of cake. I really don't see any way you can mess it up. Be organized and place your screws in groups so you can remember what goes where. Mostly used a 10MM ratchet (small one), an extension, and a thin screwdriver for the black clip thingys.
If you have plain markers (no wiring), it is two philips screws on each side. Less than a minute really.
I had a lot of fun with it, but I am just weird that way...

He he... check Insane's thread. Many kits had a 6th wire on the right side, so he added it. I don't think it might make much difference, but hey, I had 5, had to have the whole collection.
I don't understand why you would install new horns if you didn't even know what they sounded like. . .. can you explain? I used to have an SUV that had the weakest horn ever, and would have loved to replace that one, but didn't find the time.
For my Z, I wouldn't mind installing a much louder horn! Something that would get people out of my ***ing way. . ..
So now that it's installed, what do you think?

I installed my horns some time ago. They sound a little higher pitched, not so much different, but noticeable. Personally, I like it. For the price of the horns, it's worth having something that's just a little unique.
If other Z owners were around when you locked your doors, they'd instantly recognize the horns as being different.
I have heard of people installing them without removing the bumper, but I'm not sure how. Maybe, if you had very very small hands and some uniquely shaped tools you could, but I would suggest you do it in combination with a side marker change or air intake installation. Taking the bumper off isn't that difficult, there are a few good threads with pictures. In fact, taking off the majority of the interior panels isn't that difficult either, it's just getting over the fear of breaking the car.
The bumper does not need to be removed to install the non-illuminated side markers, but it would make it easier.

Well, lets see :
The horns : I bought them when I SAW them because I liked them. See picture above. As I stated, I don't use the horn very frequently so sound was not an issue either way. They do sound a little higher pitch than the US OEM ones. So , I get a distinct sound, they look good, it was a good price. I am glad I put them on. If the only reason you would change the horn is to make it louder, then maybe this ones aren't for you.
The side markers come on with the parking lights, and blink off-phase with the turning signals. So, when the parking lights are on, the side markers are on. When the turn signal comes on, the marker goes off, and vice-versa. There is a relay on the installation that achieves this. I hope the explanation makes sense. I said they blink in tune, that was wrong, they blink "off-tune".
