Default How to lose weight on the Z???

Before anyone says, I did do a search, but there is not a thread that I found that tells of the best ways to lose weight. So here is the question.

I want to shed some weight from the Z but I don't know the best path. What are the potential weight losses if I were to:

Lose the stock seats for racing seats?

replace fenders and hood and trunk hatch with carbon fiber?

Any other Ideas im open to suggestion. Im looking for the best ways to lose weight without stripping my car. It is my daily driver and im not interesting in gutting it.

Thanks for the input guys

Loose the spare and tools. Liteweight battery. Lighter wheels. Lighter flywheel. Lighter pulleys. Unsprung weight loss is the best kind.

what kind of loss are we looking at if I did all that though? Im looking for ways to shed serious weight and im not sure it is worth the effort to go from 3340lbs to 3325. Do you know what kind of weight loss I could expect with that?

There is no way your going to shed any weight that will give a noticeable advantage. Getting seats or removing items is a waste, for a daily. You'll have to shed 300bs or more for a realistic result, then you run the possibility of being too light for the stock suspension setup

I guess my only advice is to stick to small wheels like light weight 17's
Remember its the distance to a center of the wheel from its rim, has a greater positive , then the weight.
ex: a heavier 15" wheel will parasitically use less HP then a lighter weight 18" wheel.

I think someone here gutted the Z and claimed to only get approx 150lbs of junk out. That will not show any real world gains, plus the very minor gains the car gets, will be lost in driver error and therefor not trackable.

Here's a very useful thread for losing weight

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ight+reduction

I don't recommend ditching weight in the rear because you lose a lot of traction.
