i like driving manual but the thing i applaud to is people who live in san fransico with all those huge hills or places like that, now that would be a really hassle
that's where I do a lot of driving. I learned to drive there with a MT. Nothing like having to stop on a hill that is so steep it has stairs and some idiot is right on your butt so you can't have your car roll back at all. You get used to it though. Bumper to bumper traffic here is why I have a 5AT. My left knee is fd up.
So let me get this straight, you MT owners feel that a true sports car should have a stick so you can mash thru the gears right?
What in your defense do have to say when your argument is put next to this picture?
IMO all these new supercars that dont have a real gearbox, like lambos and ferraris and the R8 with the stupid r-tronic transmission, are not true sports cars. just really fast coupe. why the **** would you buy one of those and not want a real gear box? they're giving up the manuals because the new automatics can shift in like 9ms, but who cares its not fun

just need to get me in the car, i shift at 1ms. . lmao. . id give up the extra time for a manual anyday!!! much more fun and yes i just don't see it as a true sports car without three pedals under my feet

HA! 9ms? The Enzo shifts in 2ms and even the new IS-F shifts in 3ms.

I'd think as a sponsor here you'd know a little bit more about cars. That's a Ferrari 360 with F1 Gearbox. It DOES have a MANUAL GEARBOX. It has a clutch and everything too. It's just controlled by the car. You click the paddle and it shifts faster than any human driver ever could. F1 is proven to take time off track laps.

To you... the Ferrari Enzo shifts in about 150 milliseconds not 2. Not even the fastest formula one cars can't shift in 2 ms more in the range of 50ms.
I love my Z but the Z is my current car, Ferrari is my religion. I can provide sources for all my numbers above if you'd like, just PM me.
*Just for clarification all the times I reference are from the time the clutch is disengaged till the time the clutch is reengaged. Cars like the Bugatti Veyron have direct shift which is a whole different system and is "faster" than the F1 but it's a whole different animal. A lot of companies advertise their car shifts gears in X amount of milliseconds but if it's less than 60 or so ms then it's usually the time required to swap cogs not involving clutch, advertising trickery.
Here's some evidence as per motor trend:
I won't even get started about whether or not Ferraris are "real" sports cars.

Thats kind of a push. An automatic car by definition "shifts for you". The mechanics of the shift however can be argued. I have a hard time classifying a car as manual because of the mechanics of the tranny.
My perception...
Shifts for you (press of a button or otherwise) - auto
You press a clutch and change a gear - manual
I have nothing against autos so dont get me wrong. Im trying to get into an M3 now and im defiantly opting for the SMG aka "bmw auto".
I do like the comparison graph. It makes the f430 look like it shifts slow .
