ive driven an '03 Z with 60K miles before and the clutch seemed significantly different than my '08 Z... I've driven it daily for over the past year and I don't really mind the clutch that much, you get pretty used to it after a while haha

Serious??? Is the Z realy that much of an issue to drive MT? I honestly thought it was quite easy. Pontiac GTO was harder and that is super easy too. The only car I thought had a heavy clutch pedal response was an e39 M5. Not hard to drive either, just much more noticiable response from pedal. Does anyone else think the Z is easy to drive stick??? Maybe im just used to it.

I don't see how people find it hard to daily. The clutch to me is super light and grabby. Drive aNeon with an old clutch and that is more of a workout.

z was my manual dd, but got a winter car this year. manual vw passat, clutch is ten feet long and shifts like butter. I hate it. I like the notchiness of the z, thats the best part. Quickshifter made it feel 10x better too!

i love my 06 MT. On traffic it sucks cause you can unleash the beast :P and i hate to drive it slow as well. My clutch is stiff as hell and so was my stock clutch till it mess up big time. She is my DD and i love every second i drive her the only thing that pisses me off is 5th gear cause is super slow to engage ... is this happening to me only? or are there others with same trouble?

Sucks more with MT. Not only are you stuck in traffic your working(shifting) too. Screw that common sense prevails AT is better in traffic, but thats about it :-)..

I never once thought that the clutch was too heavy or shifting was a pain. I loved the feel and thought everything felt great.

^ LOL nice. I have no issues driving MT daily. My only complaint is the touchiness of the clutch upon 1st gear engagement when I'm stopped on a hill (with a$$holes tailgating me, no less). Otherwise, I love it, and getting to heel-toe my own downshifts is a huge plus

Over here in the UK 90% of all cars are manual. Not sure why. Just the way it has always been. I personally would always get a sports car with a manual gearbox because it gives you more 'feel' however there are more sports cars being released nowadays in the UK with paddleshift boxes which are semi autos. When I first drove the 350z I did find the first couple of gears very clunky and still do. I use my 350 as my daily driver and you do get used to the heavy clutch and clunky first gear. I have heard it is a similar issue with the BMW z4m and is quite 'jerky' in the first couple of gears. I have heard this issue can be resolved with an uprev remap which I'll be getting early nxt year.

My car is a 04.5 6sp and manual was only one I would purchase at the time. Our car is a sports car and I never I understand why Nissan offer a auto version. Not to offend anybody but I think having a auto sports car other than new skyline is g...! You need a manual to have the most fun driving and auto just take that away. I can understand for people that get g35 couple auto to me that's acceptable since it's more luxury but not for 350z. My next car probably will be the 370z but once again manual period!

As an update: The 370 7AT is about 1/2 second faster than the 6MT in the 1/4 mile, if that means anything to you. That is 5 car lengths or so. In addition, as noted by our British friend above. Paddleshifts are in and clutches are out. The GTR has no clutch pedal and a person will be hard pressed to find a conventional clutch in the years to come. I like shifting with a clutch, but there is no doubt that the era of clutches is about over. Enjoy them while you can.

Not a thing, with an AT, no matter how fast it goes, just takes the fun out of driving a sports car.

I don't disagree, but it looks like that is the way it is going to be.

I agree with you completely fowlman, it's kind of sad if you really think about it.

Even if the auto runs better 1/4 mile times, its just no fun. Driving a manual makes driving so much more exciting, and I feel a sense of "control" that I dont feel with an auto. Every time I get into an auto, I shove my left foot to the floor accidentally when I go to start it
