Even if the auto runs better 1/4 mile times, its just no fun. Driving a manual makes driving so much more exciting, and I feel a sense of "control" that I dont feel with an auto. Every time I get into an auto, I shove my left foot to the floor accidentally when I go to start it
I do the same thing LOL. I have an AT cx7 but thats an SUV so i cant picture it as a MT. And i couldnt image my z or porsche being AT that would bore me to sleep. MT ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!
see even smileys drive MT

If you keep a little gas in when you shift it will not be so notchy for those of you that don't know. This car was built to be under throttle during acceleration.
I like them that way. In traffic you'll notice the notchiness a little more cause you'll upshift without supplying a bit of gas at times.

I'm just adding to the fire. I saw this in another thread and found it funny reading for those boring afternoons.

I got rid of my first-run 03 6MT Z such a long time ago... but everyone thought I was crazy back then, but it seems you are all seeing the light! I didn't have much of a complaint with the gearbox but the clutch... it was absolute hell to drive. It didn't help that I had two tranny replacements in less than a year.
I've moved on to a 135i 6MT and it is light years ahead in drivability... along with idiot-proof monster power gains!

It almost feels like there's no clutch when I drive anything else that is manual.

Auto vs Manual its a personal choice. I've owned both, know driving the mt.
But some days i do miss the auto but not for very long!
One thought though? Two exact Z's. The mt has a experienced driver and the
auto a novice in the 1/4 mile who wins.

Where is everyone coming from with a stiff clutch??? yall are blowing my mind ha. If you think a Z's clutch is stiff, you should go test drive a S/C cobra!

I have a 2006 350z Touring 6-Speed and also a 2002 Honda Civic EX 5-Speed as my DD
The Civic 5-Speed clutch is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter when compared to the Z
However, the Z is still pretty easy to drive and isn't stiff enough to where I recognize it, but when changing cars there is a difference...
My friend drives a 2002 Audi TT 6-Speed and since its a luxury car, its clutch is soft as a Feather, as is my friends 2002 IS300 6-Speed
I think if you come from a Luxury car that is manual, you will feel a HUGE difference
That said...I love my car and love the stuff clutch, hahah

They revised the clutch in '05 and up?
The 03-04 Z's were significantly stiffer and one of the few "mechanical" issues they addressed in the earlier models.

The Manual 370Z puts down considerably more power than the 7AT so it doesn't make sense. The 7AT might be more consistent but I think a well driven manual will be faster in the same conditions.

Actually its not by half a second, its more like .2 seconds in the 1/4. I think it was only one test done by car and driver and it might have been a fluke.

The 6MT and 7AT have the same HP. Maybe you meant that the 7AT loses some hp in the tranny. (not much and certainly not considerably) It more than makes up for it in the shifting speed and the gearing. The clutch pedal as we know it will be gone in a couple years. Note the GTR.
