Nothingremains - No problem. I completely understand! Different strokes for different folks. There is no reason for anyone to hate on you as a result though. Good luck!

Kuruma-San - I'm with Mercury now and paying less then 70 a month (a nice change of pace). I'll have to check with National though! I'm not going to complain about saving a few bucks. Thanks for the recommendation!

I still fail to see how that is bad mouthing the Z. I see that more as saying that his situation sucks... perhaps it's just the way I read it though.

I'll stick up for the OP....

When did he bad mouth the Z??? I missed that one! He stated things, nicely might I add, about things he disliked about the Z. In return his has been nothing but shat on about it.

To the OP

I bought my Z in Dec of 04 and had it for 2.5 years. At that point my fiance and I moved from FL to CA (where she is originally from). I have a spotless driving record. At the time I was 24 years old. My salary that I was being payed in CA was about 65% less then what I was making in FL. On top of that, the insurance company wanted $400 a month (yes, I checked other companies) to insure my Z (spotless record but also under 25...). I love(d) my Z but couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a car regardless of how much I loved it. Over a grand a month (after gas, payment and insurance) was not something I was willing to spend on a car, regardless of how much I loved it. I ate about 4k on my trade in and I miss my Z everyday!!! In the end, however, that was the right choice for me to make.

Good luck with your decision and remember to think with your brain (not just your heart). Hope you enjoy whichever car you end up with!

Sounds like you and the O.P. need to go hold hands and drive off in his new hybrid civic. See ya in the photoshop threads

Meh, same things cross my mind once in a while. My thought is that by the time I sell the car (maybe in a few years) my income will have increased from where it is now and having to put out a few extra bucks for a new car due to this car's depreciation won't hurt so badly. I definitely appreciate my Z for what it is to me, and that is a non-practical, good looking and fast little money pit. Even when I am driving on cinder-coated roads getting my paint chewed up in the middle of winter, I really have little regret buying this car.

To the OP, one suggestion if I may...you complained about lack of space in the Z but then mentioned buying an Accord coupe. I realize they are much more roomy than the Z but if you want more space, why not go for a sedan of some sort? Moreover maybe you should consider some sort of sports sedan or else you might be bored out of your mind going from the Z to something much bigger and more clumsy. Good luck to you.

OP, what are you still doing posting in this forum!? The more time you spend here, the more your Z depreciates! Go ahead & join the dark side -- get your Civic so you can rid yourself of the nuisances of your Z.

Trust me, your "garbage" Z will be someone else's "treasure!"

Are you still in denial & you can't let go!?

you shouldve bought it used. I went from a 06 Honda Civic to an 05 350z and so far i have no complaints. You shouldve bought it used because 40% of the depreciation takes place with in the first 2 years.

a Z to an accord...ouch! haha

600 a month? damn, i pay 234, i also put 12k down though, than again i also pay 320 a month for insurance...

the point is, the Z is a sports car, not a familey sedan or SUV... sports cars arent subposed to get good gas mileage or be luxuriouse (or however you spell that word..haha)

they're subposed to be fast and expensive to own. (for most)

I have a personality and dont need a car to define it for me..
Stop trying to justify your loss. You don't want to give your Z away, your wife is forcing you and you're trying to justify it. And bull**** you only drive it to go to work and back Nobody buys a $30,000-$40,000 car just to drive from home to work and back. You bought it to drive solo and get chicks to turn their heads at you. You bought it to experience full performance and you bought it to define you as a person. Women do a good job and twisting your views around and making you do things you don't want to. I know from experience...I've been with my girlfriend for 3 and a half years and yes I admit I'm a little whipped at times but when we go out for a car ride and she tells me she hates my Z because it's impractical, I told her to go out and buy her own car if she doesn't like mine. She went out and bought a 1988 Ford Taurus that's already having issues and has already broke down once. I had to pick her up from the highway and get her car towed. When she sat in my car I just looked at her and I said, "So...my car is impractical? "

Aside from that, your wife doesn't want you spending money on something you enjoy. Hey, it's normal. That's what a marriage is all about. You could have at least traded it in for a G35 or another 4 seater equal to your Z. Why would you slump down to a $12,000 soccer mom car?

Whatever, it's been awhile since you originally posted so your Z is probably already gone. But I want you to know that whenever you unlock your Corolla or Focus or whatever you're buying. I want you to know that everyone on the internet is laughing at you. And the internet is the world wide web.

before you bought the car did you read the EPA fuel rating on the MSRP?

Two seaters are nice and all, but going from 2 suv's to one is kinda tough for sure..The Z is kinda lacking in storage and kinda a pain to move around in while driving..
did you realize that when you test drove it?

+1

Like I said, refer to my above post. His wife is making him give it away and he's trying to find reasons to justify it to make himself sleep better at night.
