Default VDC off=$200 tow truck

I had a hairy experience last night. A HUGE bug landed on my knee coming around a turn just after it rained. I jerked my knee or something accidentally hit the VDC button, slipped off the clutch and spun 90 degrees into a grass ditch which after i rocked back forth for ten minutes spinning my tires made it about 1 foot of mud. Not good and scary. Im so damn lucky I didnt hit the rock wall 5 feet in front of me. May have scraped the bottom though. Hope I didnt damage it. Of course redlining in reverse wasnt a good idea but...I dont know how you non-VDC drive. I applaud you. I would surely killed myself by now.

that's impossible. Also the VDC button is in a plastic "groove" which makes it impossible. Unless you have a super skinny boney knee, i call BS.

Most cars don't have VDC or even traction control. It's called countersteering. Not very hard. You must be a newbie with RWD.

Im not that new to RWD though its been about 6 years since I had a RWD, I understand countersteer, etc. it just happened so damn fast. I felt the tires spin, nose came around and I was in the grass. The VDC was OFF when I turned the car back on.

HAHAHAHAHA!! OOOH yes... the VDC is also known as the SUICIDE button. Once pressed, it turns the car into an uncontrollable spin beast.

I should have taken pics (but it was at like 9pm last night, dark). I washed the car this morning but it was COVERED in mud. Looked like a 4 wheel drive vehicle back from the trails.

yeah i understand. It's easy for me to say all this but i know it's completely different when it's happening. You really don't know whats going on until your car actually stops.

Why did you have the clutch pedal depressed while exiting the curve?

Proof that VDC compensates for poor driving skills.

I wasnt going too fast. Normally. If NOTHING had gone wrong. Maybe 30 miles an hour. Its a long, wide turn. Multiple lanes. 30 is no big deal. But not last night I guess. Just bad luck. In the past two weeks Ive backed into a trailer hitch ($500), had a flat tire one morning($300) and $200 for a tow. Not a good couple weeks.
