i bet the first owner redlined it outta the lot. yer motor is gonna blow at 50k. haha just playin. just pissed at u cuz i had to break mine in. only took me about a month.

The rings are actually seated in the first 20 miles , so just drive it.

you only need a few hundred miles...i let the car loose at 500 miles...

 

Yeah, I drove her nice and easy for about 450-500 miles (under 3k), and after that I have been driving her fairly more aggressively, near redline once or twice but still pretty conservative (under 4k). I am at ~820 right now, and until 1200 I will gradually drive it harder until I get near redline. That way, the whole sweep of the tach will have seen even break in.

I couldn't resist any longer and redlined my baby at about 1k miles... by the way if you're used to 4 cylinder family cars like i was, the hr engine will kick your ***. haha just redlined her before coming home and oh baby i'm in love lol have fun

Yesterday, I went to teh stealership with my girl for a test drive of the new 07 Z...they had one with just 200KMs on it...and they lend it to me as a free loan car for a good drive for a few hours just me with my girl...=) "yes...surprisingly nice salesperson".....so, of course I had to test out the 07's potential and caned it HARD...gave her a nice break in bash....few burns on the tyres, red lining first, second, and third....drove harder than i ever hav done with my own 03 Z....lol....u get the picture... it was a good drive and now i'm pretty keen to get a 07 upgrade...(Brand NEW)

so yeah...anyone out there thinkin to getin a demo discounted Z? DONT!
they've been thrashed to the limit without proper breakin in!

Damm I just hit 489 miles it feels like I'm never going to get to 1200

 

Yup, I just got to do that with a built motor and turbo. It sucked!

 

+1 on not waiting til 1200 miles. You don't need to. All you need to do is wait about 500. I brought up to about 5000 rpms at about 500 miles. Then I brought it to redline at about 800 miles. Haven't had a problem.

yeah break-ins suck i spent like 300 bux the first week in gas just trying to get over that marker, but i was told 2000miles, bought it off floor with 967 lol

 

when are people ganna learn , just drive the dam thing. I just wouldnt break it in at a track event , just normal driving they way your normally going to drive it . If it hits th redline 5 times in one day , so be it.

 

i hate it too, i only get to drive my car once or twice a week. i had the car 5 months. only 900 miles. but i've already taken it up to 4-5K RPM's a few times already.
