Default worst compliment

so i'm out in the driveway washing the Z when a 30 something mother comes up with a baby stroller and said to me "oh, what a CUTE little car you have."
now i know odds are that she does'nt know diddly about cars and that coming from her that was a great compliment but, please don't call my car CUTE.
VW beatles are Cute, Mini Coopers are CUTE, but never a Z. well maybe the Z31.

sorry Z31 owners, i could'nt resist

Don't fret.. females just have different ways of describing things sometimes. Sometimes they mean sexy or beautiful when they say cute. Plenty of my female friends have called the car cute... and I know they don't mean cute in a Beetle/Mini kinda way.

Absolutely, cute is the worst compliment I have ever received, I cringe, grit my teeth and smile and say thank you. It really hurts to be polite, but I am.

My mother in law tried to call my car cute once. Hubby had to tell her that "cute" is not an acceptable term when complimenting a car.

I would NEVER call the Z cute. What's considered "cute" (i.e. the Beetle or Mini) just gets on my nerves. But I'm not exactly your typical female. lol

I was told "wow, cool car.... is that the new Altima"

I just had to laugh / smirk at that one!

When I first showed off my car to some of my friends the two girls both said that car was "sooooo cute" the other three guys all just grinded their teeth when they heard that. So did I. They don't seem to realize that 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and 287hp doesn't warrant the word cute......now sexy is Ok with me.

Studies were done between males and females that involved face recognition. The part of the brain that distinguishes between people's faces and cars are the same area.

Men were found to distinguish between different faces/cars better than women.

not a surprise at all.

my car also has been called cute. I also hate when people ask me if it is "peppy". A honda accord is "peppy" driving around town, my car is quick or fast.

A guy I work with asked me yesterday how fast it would go. I told him, "55". He said, "Yeah. Plus 100!"

I hate it when a woman calls my car "cute". I can't think of many things more emasculating than that... lol

I was stopped at a red light in Ohio last weekend when a fellow pulled up along side me and asked what model Porsche I was driving.. I told him it was a "Nissan Porsche" His jaw dropped , the light turned green and I left him sitting with a blank stare on his face.. What a putz..

The two compliments that stick out in my mind were:

1) "Oh my young man, I was just admiring your lovely machine"
(70ish lady in the grocery store parking lot)

2) "I don't care what anyone says, I think it looks great!"
(30ish guy, don't remember where).

#2 is the only negative comment I've received....even if it was in a backhanded kind of manner.

Oh well, I like it....that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Default Not even a compliment, more an insult!!

A few months back, I was getting gas and some guy just pulled next to me and said, "What is it? A Volvo?".

I was about to ....do all that to him! I politely reply "NO, it's a Nissan" instead. He said nice and proceed to get gas.

The degree to which "cute" is acceptable is directly proportional to how cute the girl making the comment is!

I think the word "cute" is just about the worst thing you could call anything a guy has. Like others, I cringed the one time a lady called my car cute, but I do that anytime any lady calls something of mine cute, whether it's my pen, my cell phone, whatever. The word is just Evil.

My $0.02...
