Open the hatch. All the water drains out at once. Then close the hatch and dry.

Remove your rear wiper while you are at it. Looks so much better.

Yea I usually wash it, open the hatch and let the water drain. Then while the hatch is open I get any water caught under the hatch so it wont sit when I close it. But yea it is annoying!

3 places that mess my wax job up:
1) Rear hatch, as already mentioned
2) Mirrors
3) Door Handles
Annoying as hell after a bit of hard work!

For the hatch, the water collects under the rubber molding around the glass. I just run my finger down the molding, pressing really hard, until all the water comes out. Mirrors are still a pain for me. I usually drive around for a few minutes so all the water will come out, then I just quick detail it.

Use a [lawn] blower or your air compressor to get to the trouble water areas.

Don't you just hate part 2 (mostly applying to FL residents):
When you just waxed your car, and you drive out on the highway to work or school . . . and it rains for a minute or a few seconds and then it stops raining only to ruin the washing you did minutes ago?
All that time trying to stop water from dripping from the rear wiper gone to waste...
