Default Preventing theft in the Z

After reading all these stories of how easy it is to break into the Z I was wondering if anyone had the link to the DIY thread to disable the auto down function of the windows from the outside.

I remember reading that there was a wire in the door panel you can cut to prevent thiefs from simply popping the door handle off and forcing your windows to roll down. Also remember reading that the benefits of this mod is that although you can't roll down the windows by inserting the key, it will still go down if you press and hold unlock down twice.

I can't for the love of me find this thread but do distinctly remember reading that such a mod does exist. If it does could someone please post it for me and for others since if it does exist it is a very easy and cheap way to protect your valuables from thiefs. Thank You.

No need to pop the handle off and force the window down, that takes to long. When somebody broke into my Z they simply put something between the top of the window near the weather strip and the frame and pushed down. That made the window crack perfectly and only takes 5 seconds. Lucky they did not screw up my paint.

If someone wants your car..... they're going to get it. Just get a club and pray.

Come on people, where's the optimism?! I know if they want to break in they will but how about giving our cars a fighting chance? Or at the very least make it as difficult as possible for them to get into our cars...
I'm sure even placing a fake LoJack sticker on the window will deter SOME thiefs... Idk i'm just scared of getting my stuff jacked hehe

The more difficult you make it, the more damage they will do.

Exactly.

When Nissan started installing "data dots" on the 2002-03 Maximas, it didn't prevent theft of the HIDs. Instead of having a clear rip from the car, the thieves ended up sticking crowbars into the hood, bumper, and fenders causing thousands in damage - on top of stealing the headlights.

Just put a club in to discourage. If someone steals it, chances are you won't want it back.

The Club by itself isn't very effective. See my posts at https://my350z.com/forum/showpost.ph...5&postcount=17 and https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ck#post1687148 for why.

Damn these stories are scary. I know we all work hard to get paid and enjoy our money so its quite frustrating. Well, the only things I can think of are an alarm system with GIS capabilities so they can be tracked via the Internet.

If you really don't want it to get stolen, a removable steering wheel can help as well.

Easy solution is to not put any valuables in your vehicle. I don't put anything valuable in my car.
