Not sure about that but I sure don't like they way it stands out. I wish they'd just put the antenna in the windshield like they use to in the old days..

It does kinda stick out but it really didn't bother me too much. What kind are you thinking of? If it was one of the motorized ones you may want to rethink it. I have had three cars with that type and every one of them has gone bad eventually. The stupid things are expensive to fix too! As for the windshield kind, it may look better but the reception sucks!

I'm sure the after market will peovide us with options once the car hits the street. A smaller stubby antenna would be great. But i'm not sure if I like the placement of the antenna. If you could change the antenna and the placement, a stubby antenna placed centered aft on the roofline would be nice (I think Mercedes does this).

But, the bigger fish is the license plate holder!!! OOH... MY... GOD!!!

Nevertheless, it's a good day in the waiting game today.

Default Benz Antenna?

What is everyones opinion on the mercedes Antenna? You know that stumpy thing above the rear winshield.

I hate it. At no time would I consider moving from the fixed mast to the stumpy thing. I really think it ruins the lines on the benz. I am probably the only one with this opinion, but man I hate that antenna.

The antenna shown in the production Z picures blends in pretty well. I don't have a problem with the fixed mast style. it is tasteful.

Now that License plate holder HAS GOT TO GO. I am contacting my dealer Monday regarding this.

It is my understanding that the license plate holder will be shipped uninstalled in the trunk of the car to your dealer. You should coordinate with you dealer to not have the front bracket installed.

Couldn't agree with you more , the motorized ones are a major pain in the ***. I kind of like the Jetta antenna , at the top of the back window, it follows the lines of the car. Oh well , nothing will ruin this car for me ...unless the dealer screws up and drills plate holes. Cannot wait to get my Z

I like the Mercedes antenna. But, i'll agree with you that it does disturb the lines. I don't think i'll mind the current antenna. I'll be curious the alternatives though.

That S2000 antenna looks pretty nice. Chances are I'll probably replace the stock antenna with one of those bad boys.

Default Mercedes Antennae

I think the Mercedes antennae you're talking about is the GPS antennae. I just sold my CLK55 AMG & it had one of these antennae. MBUSA indicated that their AM/FM one was in the glass. I'm thinking of one of thos black flexible ones??

I've heard that the retractable ones can be a pain but I had one on my 90' TT and it still worked fine when I sold the car 3 months ago. As long as you keep it lubed you shouldn't have a problem with the retractable ones. At least I didn't.
