Potential Nismo Buyer with questions....
Hey guys, I went and test drove the Nismo last night, and just fell in love. My question is a simple one, and I think I know the answer.
Is there anyway to mount a kids seat (toddler) in the Z, and if so, do I have to disable the air-bag? My daughter is almost 4, and though she won't ride in the car often, it would be nice if I 'could' take her to school when I am home. I have a company car, so this isn't a deal breaker, but I know she is going to want to ride in the 'race' car.

Gee. Were we at this same place 27 months ago?

u can mount it in the passenger seat but I would highly NOT recommended it since the seating of the Z to the airbag is dangerously close for an infant. I would disable it if I had a child riding in the seat

Good call on the NISMO Z, it's a great car! To answer your question, the Z isn't equipped to adequately fasten in a child seat, or turn off the passenger airbag. However, you could have the car modified by a safety specialist on both counts. No estimate on how much this will cost, as it will vary regionally.
The good news is that the Z offers an advanced dual stage airbag that measures the weight of the occupant. So as your daughter grows up, she will eventually sit in "the racecar" without any problem. I think you'll be keeping that car for a LONG time!
Hope that helps and check out our article about the NISMO Z in the Summer '07 issue of Nissan Sport Magazine. We'll also carry additional details about the NISMO Z in upcoming issues.

Thanks guys, I tried to search, but wasn't able to get a good 'trigger' word, but it was late, and I was partaking of a good bottle of wine.
No worries, I won't be a practice to ride her around, but I am sure she will want a neighborhood cruise from time to time, and if properly modified, it will be ok.
But, for daily duties, looks like te company car is on-point.

I think its illegal in some states to have a kid in the front seat under a certain weight or height or age. Might want to check that. Besides its just not safe, this is your kid we are talking about.
The airbag is disabled up until a certain weight. When my ex gf's little boy (he was 10) rode in there with, the light always came on it was disabled. And really, don't put a kid in the front seat? How did any of ever make it to adult hood?

Not 100% true. You can take a child in the front seat if your car is a 2 seater. Like our cars, or a single cab truck. The vehicle needs to be equiped with a airbag turn off switch of some type, manual or automatic. That is the reason our car turns it's airbag off when little weight is on that seat. Trucks have been doing it for years. It is 100% legal as long as the airbag can be turned off.
However, I am not sure about the car-seat itself.

Okay, you're getting a good deal of wrong information. 350Zs manufactured past May 2006 (I believe) have an airbag sensor in each seat. If the car detects a driver/passenger weighing less than 110lbs, it will disable the airbag. Half of the 2006 models didn't have it, half do (all relative to manufactured time). All 2007s, on the other, and 2008s, should have this standard.
And you are allowed to passenger a child in a 2-seater car, as far as I know. A child can be injured in a side impact (God forbid), the same way he/she can be injured in a rear-end or head-on. Accidents can happen in various ways, and positioning a child in the back will keep him safer from a head-on, but not from rear-end and side, vice-versa.
