Default reasons for warrenty expiration...bye Z?

I brought my 03 Z in the stealership to have the transmission checked out. Technically I should still be under drivetrain warrenty. They just called to informed the warrenty expired on the 21st of Jan, 06 for some reason. So if I want to get the problem fixed, I have to dish out 3k's.
My question here is what could have happen on that date to void the warrenty, I picked the car up in Dec of 06 and the carfax I ran it through did not mention anything.
If the warrenty in fact expired and I have to dish out the cash, I will most likely get rid of the car altogether

if the car was purchased in jan of 02, then 5yr later the warranty expires. As far as being void, i thought they couldnt void a warranty, only refuse to do work on certain parts of a car citing a reason.

My warranty expired in august of 2007 if that makes ya feel any better. I doubt your car was originally purchased in jan 02, i dont think they were out then.

Call bs on the dealership, make them show you a reason. If your beyond 60k then the warranty is expired.

Jan of 06 - 5 years = Jan of 01, I don't think you can pick up the car that early. I asked him what was the reason for the early expiration and he said he doesn't know, that what the computer shows.

November 2007 – 60 months = November 2002. And yes, a 2003 could have been placed in service in November 2002.

i thought the warranty only applied to new cars, not ones purchased used. though bought from the dealership used cars have their own warranty. might want to check your paperwork closer and see if that is the case.

They might be screwing you saying that your warranty was 3yr/36k instead of 5yr/60k for power train. Jan '06 would mean it could have been bought Jan '04. Very likely.

Used cars carry over the manufacturers warranty.

That shouldn't be the case, because the manufacturer warrants the car, not the owner.

I'd suggest going back and demanding a reason for the refusal of warranty. At the very least, they must give you something in writing. If they still refuse, go get a lawyer to write a letter to them citing the Magnusson-Moss Act, which deals with reasons for voiding a warranty.

Good luck

If You Bought Your Car Used from a " Nissan Dealer", They Should have Given you a Certficate Honoring the Warrenty or after they inspected and reviewed the cars historyor miles or years & if there was an issue they would have told you that in the Sales Aggrement ???

I overheard some of the techs talking to my friend that was getting his tranny replaced and that the stock clutch and flywheel had to be present it to be under warranty. Not real sure about that rule but they may have found something not stock in there and voided it.????IDK
My friends SN on this site is F1James if you want to pm him and ask. Like i said i really didnt hear everything all that well.

Yeah, I'll def going to do something like this. I just want to know for sure if the warrenty is infact exspired. He told me that's what the comp said, don't think the the computer will at least list why? I smell BS.

I think I answered the question. No point in quoting myself.

How much were they going to charge you to replace the tranny?

I don't know where in Nebraska you are. If you are near Omaha the major Nissan sponsor for Z Cars Of Nebraska (ZoNE) is Woodhouse. Maybe they would be willing to give you a more informed and intelligent answer.
