No way a Z could keep up with an 03 or 04 cobra mustang. I see alot of cobras at car shows and the Hp numbers they put out by changing a pulley is awesome. That 4.6 DOHC V8 with a roots blower is impressive and would walk away from a Z in a 1/4 mile.

 

In a drag race you are right, anything with turns, well, i wouldnt be so sure

 

So a V8 with a supercharger is faster than a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder? Wow. I sure learn a lot of stuff around here.

 

When people start bragging about all these cars that they race and beat with there stock Z are full of it. Maybe the story went they pulled up next to a base mustang with a V6 and they pulled off the stop light quicker and suddenly the story changes that it was a GT500.

 

nice find. i have a buddy with a 04' cobra svt, thing pushes over 600whp and it looks completly stock. as far as that other guy saying he beats them all the time he might be, it just depends what gen. hes racing. the 93-95 cobra only puts out 240hp. the 96-2001 puts down 305-320hp (later models). maybe those hes beating, but after those years he doesn't have a chance, they go from 400hp and up.

 

2 of my close friend's have cobras, basically we all make fun of lesser cars, especially when we're cruising around and some dumb honda rev's at all of us, thats like throwing meat to a bunch of wolves, cept the meat is gross and nobody wants it...

although the new GT500's can be beaten by an '07 Z.

 

The GT500 is over a second quicker than the Z in the 1/4 mile. The Z maybe faster around a race track than the GT500 but in drag racing the stock Z would lose.

As a former 03 Cobra owner, let me just say....yeah right!

I don't know why people have to make up stories that aren't even possible to make themselves feel good.

The 350Z is an awesome car, but as most real car enthusiasts know, it's not going to hang with an 03/04 Cobra in straight line performance.

My 03 Cobra had ONLY an after-market exhaust (no cats) and was running 12.70's @ 115.7mph in the quarter with crappy 2.1 60 ft times.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that not everyone on this site is a moron as others have called this guys bluff too.

I'm not a troll, I'm a Ford guy who happens to really dig the 07/08 350Z, and I'm looking to possibly buy one in the near future.

Your kidding right? Im a former Cobra owner, and the Stock Cobras are upwards of 300HP @ the wheels even though some came rated at 305HP @ the flywheel. Supercharged ones put down about 390HP at the wheels even though they were rated @ 390HP @ the flywheel. The Z is more of a refined Sports Car with either 287HP @ the flywheel or 300HP @ the flywheel for the Rev-Ups like mine. I seriously doubt you beat any unless you have some serious power upgrades. You would run well against a 260HP GT, but no way against a any Cobra.

 

Anything other then a 03/04 Cobra a Z would walk from on a track easily, the 03/04 have and IRS like our cars have, and with minor suspension upgrades they'll push over 1.1G's in both left and right directions. But they are very expensive to build.

Everything older than the SC Cobras we can easily beat. Those were not that fast. But since the SC Cobra's came out, we just can't touch those.

 

lol, even the 96' Cobras ran 12.8 or lower with 4.10's and some drag radials. I seriously doubt you beat any.

 

i took a 03 cobra from a 60-65 roll. No biggie, the guy gave me props after. Consider I am none biased, I won a 71' mach1, a 67' gt, and a 65' while only one Z. NOW, i went after my buddies shelby gt500 the other night, and thats no match up...
