"Normal" '07's are still running mid-low 13's.

Are you jealous i can run lower times than you? are you jealous i have an 07 and you dont? im confused? i thought we were here to support each other and congratulate each other...doesnt seem like im on a 350z forum, seems like im on a cobra forum or something. Oh but wait, i failed, i cheated.... i used more expensive tires... i would love to race some of you that think running 12.9 is not possible.

Slips, we like proof. No doubting here though.

Running with slicks is not stock anyways, so you fail.
Stock is so relative. The way our top 25 list defines stock includes stock tires. To many stock is no power adders -- stock tires wear out and need to be replaced and many drivers don't get the same ones that came from the factory. All of a sudden they're not "stock".

So no he wouldn't make it to our top 25 "stock" list, but in my book the power output of his car didn't change, and if he can indeed produce proof of a 12.9 (slip please) with just the addition of slicks -- way to go. Just goes to show you what the HR is capable of once it hooks well.

I understand completely. But you can't just come out of left field claiming the sky is green with no proof. You also can't claim a stock time when you're running slicks (with gives you the best improvement out of any NA mod).

IF he ran it, congrats. But until then, I'll believe it when monkeys crawl out my anus.

I'm not jealous of ****. You claim a stock time when you're not stock. Like I just said, slicks are the best NA mod you can make in regards to improving your 1/4 e.t. What do you run STOCK? What was your time slip breakdown? Surely you at LEAST know your RT, 60', and trap?

You can't make a claim like that, especially when you'd be the first person on this (or most likely any) forum to accomplish running that time in an otherwise stock Z without any proof.

No one said 12.9 is impossible... hell, I think VeeTec will hit that STOCK.

Hence I ask him to provide a slip. I have no problem with him claiming 12.9 as his "stock" time even if he's running slicks. Wheels with a set of slicks can be swapped onto a car in 10 minutes, maybe even faster. If you bring slicks to a race and the other guy doesn't -- that's his problem (hell AWD doesn't even need em to pull great 60ft times).

I guess we'll differ on this one. Slicks give such a huge advantage off the line that it's just unfair to claim the car as stock when running them. Plus, he'd need a different set of wheels for them also, unless he has a spare set of stockers. That right there, depending on the wheel, would be a weight reduction (and aftermarket wheels are a mod, making your car un-stock... LOL, I'm reaching on that).

'Tis true 'bout teh AWD... I cut a high 1.6 when I was stock.

The HR is a great engine there is no doubting that but let's keep it in perspective... it's a 3.5L V6. It's not the fastest engine in the world, yet a few still think it can beat anything ever built. Beating a cobra? .... maybe if your a magician.

If a few are going to be this proud about the HR and not accept there are cars out there that will beat it.... threads in 2009 will be "Just beat a GTR with a few mods on my 08"

+1

The same is true on the autocross course. Cars just cant do the same tricks without slicks. Launching, stopping, and turning become cartoonish once the slicks are on.

I have always said that cars, (no matter how well prepped) can't drive themselves. So congrats on the 12.x time just the same. However if we were standing near our cars in a parking lot and you told me your "stock" Z runs 12's I would look at your car, (with street tires on it) and think, "That car does not do 12's in the 1/4." And I would be correct.

It's like saying "My car can do x stock... Just let me put different x's y's and z's on it first."

O mai God +1 on the auto-x reference. I DOMINATE everyone on street tires in my region (well, maybe a few Miata's and an RX-8 can beat me), but my class alone slicks will give you at least 2 seconds. That's HUGE.
