The 96 Cobra's were slow as crap. The 97 got a bit faster but still not as fast a s a 07 350z.

The Cobras of that year were mid 14 sec cars if they were lucky.

LOL, some delusional people on this forum.

I had a 98 Cobra with most of the bolt ons plus 4.10 gears, and that car would easily hand my Z its @$$ in a straight line. If the track had curves, who knows, depends on how shallow the turns are and how long the straights are. I'd give it to the Z for sure on an auto-x course.

And what's with claiming a stock Z is fast? My Cobra, as I stated earlier would kill it, and even I thought that car was slow.

please excuse me for not knowing ALL of the mustang models and everything but i walked away from a BRAND NEW orange gt with the black racing stripes (not sure if thats some special edition so don't flame me for claiming the paint makes it faster)....and i honestly am not going to brag or bs but i have beaten 2 '01 or newer NON SC'd cobra's (or look-a-likes) and some girl in an automatic mach 1...the "older" gt's, i don't acknowledge them when they give me the "get out of here ricer" look...

like i said...honestly i have no internet ego to feed...im just telling you my experiences...i have an '03 track with intake, exhaust, spec stage 2 clutch/lightened flywheel

Did you race them at a 1/4 mile track or street? How did you know it was a GT, it could have been the base V6. Even the non supercharged DOHC V8 in the cobras would beat the Z. You got to understand that it does not take much to get alot of Hp out of one of those cars compared to the Z. I like my Z but I know I would get my *** handed to me drag racing a Cobra.

The 96's were even slower.

And when the 07 Z can run 13.2's at around 105 mph, that is much faster than a Cobra of those years.

Friday night I lined up against a 93 Cobra at the track. He had boltons + cam & headwork). He trapped 119 and pulled a 12.1 (traction issues).

They are NOT all as slow as you indicate.

LOL! 12.1 with just those mods? I think not. He had to have more than just a cam and headwork sorry to say.

But then again, I had a friend that had a 99 Z28 while I had a 99 TA, get a cam, and headwork done, but he also had rods replaced, and a few other things, and was pushing over 450rwhp.

We are talking stock Cobras. They are not that fast. This is why the Cobra has got a nickname from the GM guys slobra. EOD.

The only other mods he would have had was gears (most likely) and he was running DR's. Was definitely not FI and definitely on the stock block.

So because of a nickname, that explains it all? So vettes are slow because some call them "Slowvettes"?

Great logic.

I am just saying the Cobra's were never that fast. Especially the ones right before the SC. People complained they were slow so they had to do something.

Trying to say a Cobra is fast makes me laugh especially one that only had 240hp. And your trying to compare moded ones.

I'm not trying to compare a modded Cobra to a stock 350Z. What I was referencing was;
My friend had gears, high flow exhaust, short shifter, and a intake. The best his 97 could do was a 14.2
Which indicates to me that you are trying to infer the Cobras are slow even with breather mods. If the best your friend could pull was a 14.2 with gears (I assume 4:10's or similar) exhaust and intake, then something is wrong with your friend's driving or conditions at that track suck.

Stock: Nothing great to brag about compared to cars of today (but they aren't slow), but they do respond very well to mods and can be made very fast.

Nope, I am just tired of replying to your posts. You are known on this forum to be the american fanboi when it comes to domestic cars.

Considering my garage has only one domestic and I have owned a 350Z, I would respond that you are completely off-base.

You on the otherhand consistently degrade American cars.

Sorry anyone can look at your post history and see you are always arguing in topics relating to a domestic vehicle.

I have owned several American Cars. I know what they are capable of, and I also know what the Z is.

And for one, did you forget the post you saw with VeeTec hitting 13.2~ at 107 mph!!! bone stock. That is 6 mph faster than that year cobra in the 1/4. YES 6 mph! And he bogged off the line.
