I moved up from a Base to an Enthusiast and one of the things that annoys me is the interior plastic around the dash and console. Its coated with black coating but its easily scratched (i mean just run your finger nail across it) exposing a light gray color underneath. This was never a problem with my Base since the plastic panels were gray to begin with.

Does Nissan sell some touchup paint for the interior of the Z?

The only reason for me not buying Base is the LSD, or lack thereof.

Talk to the dealer they can all be upgraded. I ended up getting my base with black leather seats, spoiler, and aluminum pedals for next to nothing.

Invest in an enthusiast. It's barely more than a base and you get so many goodies (cc, auto dimming mirror, traction control, ect.)

Good Choice. I thought about the base model at first but you just can't pass all the extra features that comes with the enthusiast with only $1k to $2k price different. I don't like leather seat so enthusiast is the perfect fit for me. Enthusiast is well worth the extra $$$ compare to base IMO.

LSD is very useful, but the Quaife I put in (and other aftermarket LSD's) is a lot better than the stock.

VDC would have been nice when I hydroplaned a few months after buying my Z. I was able to keep her on the road, but I think VDC would have helped in that case. That's the only time in 33k miles I missed it. Otherwise I like not having electronic "nannies."

TCS might be good for snow, I guess. (but I live in Florida)

its not the CC. but the VDC and LSD. depending on where you live mostly. i live in southern cali/las vegas so needing them is not really a priority. we get less than 10 inches of rain a year...

i drive from southern cali to las vegas every other two or three weeks. my only regret with the base is the CC, honestly. The VDC and LSD are wonderful but not a neccesity (sp)

spend the extra 2kish and get the enthusiast.

if you were to ask the base model'ers which one is better they would say base

if you were to ask the enthusiast and up model'ers, they would probably say their cars are better.

your question is relative regardless, its really up to you. gl bro

I test drove a base 2005 and while it was fast, it didn't have traction worth a poo. Inside felt bare bones and empty.

I'm glad I got a Touring 6MT. (march 1st)

When I use Cruise Control, I am still always uncomfortable because I can never figure out where I want to rest my feet.

In a perfect world I'd be able to throw them up on the dash, but this isn't a perfect world.

When I went from my 98' escort to the Z it had CC and heated seats...and I live in FL.

I was why the f*ck would I need heated seats or CC in stop go traffic.

I use both: high way trips to Daytona and heated seats after the gym( so I use it 6 days a week). So in other words I find uses for them.

But if I ended up going from this to a base I could easily get use to not having them...CC is not a needed thing.

i do miss CC sometimes, but honestly i am always hitting traffic when coming home from the 405 freeway so its useless to me either way

besides having the other stuff like VCD or TCS is a waste of money to me since i am the driver and want to be in full control of the car all the time =) after all its a sports car
