YOU DON"T NEED IT!
The Z does just fine at 90-110 mph without having to move your foot around.
Spend your money on a radar detector and you'll be better off in the long run.

HAHA!! I had a v6 mustang. That thing was sad.

leave it to ford to make a 3.8 engine with half the power of a 3.5 engine.

not to high jack the thread, but for the 07-08 models, is base the only one without controls on the steering wheel? I've been browsing online looking for a Z and noticed that the enthusiast stated models didn't have the steering wheel controls either. Now i could be wrong but i though only the base model was without the steering wheel controls.

I don't miss it at all. I didn't buy my Z for luxury.... and it keeps it fun to add the little things here and there that I would need (homelink rearview, LSD, etc.)

The use of CC helps save gas (i.e. by keeping a constant speed vs accelerating/decelerating). I believe in that old saying "it's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it".

If anyone really want/need CC, then 2 options:
1. Replace ECU from Enthusiast model along with keys, add steering wheel buttons, add about 3 switches to clutch and brake pedals, then pray that CC will work...
OR
2. Sell your base and buy enthusiast...

Nothing else I can say about this thread.

My previous car, Tiburon SE, had cruise control and I was a cruise control *****. I now have a base Z and on the very first night of having it I had a three hour road trip. I bitched about it for the first hour but then I got used to it and realized that without it i'm a much more attentive and better driver.

When I did have cruise I would do things that involved me getting my foot away from the pedal bay area.

Like what? Massage your sack on the gear shift.
Sorry couldn't resist.

My previous car had cruise and I used it once just to see how it would be like. After that I never used it.

I don't feel like I miss it, even on 2-3 hour drives.

The only thing I feel the Base falls a bit short on are the volume controls on the steering wheel.

For everything else, there are far superior aftermarket mods available.

You guys are nuts. I drive with my cruise on all the time mainly to keep from driving to fast in COP hot spots where you know they are always doing radar. Anytime on the highway Cruise is instantly the first thing I do. Who wants to be stuck having to hold the gas down. That reason is enough to not buy a base model.

I don't think it matters which model you have because if you want to use the gear shift as a ball massager...., well you're probably going to any how.

Yes I believe the Base will be the only one without the controls on the steering wheel. The more options you get the more buttons you get.

i must say i did miss cruise control when i first bought my z, but i have recently moved from a small town to a much more populated place and i could never see me using it here even on the interstate its just not very useful up here. Now traction control would of been useful since the z is my daily driver.

I want to get a Z very soon and am actively looking. The base is more in my price range and I can get an LSD put on. I don't travel a great deal on the interstate accept for the 7 miles to work.

So I'm trying to decide if I should go with a newer base or slightly older enthusiast or touring.

Thanks
well i drove from south florida to New Jersey and there were a few times I wish i had it but I survived! its safer not to have it
