Orange Peel
How many of you have this and what exactly is it? I've searched the forum but I can't find an explanation. If orange peel is something to do with the exterior can someone post pics? Plz and thx
In this old old thread, scroll down to the promo picture of the handle. The paint around it shows orange peel really well. My SS Z has it, although it doesn't look as bad as that. Every new car I've seen in the past few years has it.

Ever since people on this site made a big stink about it, I've been checking out various cars just to see how prevalent the problem is.
So far, I have yet to see a fairly new car without it. Mercedes, porsche, honda, toyota, ford, GM...everyone has it.
I guess that is both good and bad. Good in that our car is no worst than any others, but bad in that we are pretty much guaranteed to get a car with orange peel from here on out. Ah well, I don't mind it at all.
Unfortunately, no one can be told just what Orange Peel is. You have to see it for yourself....(sorry, just saw Matrix).
Just look at a reflection in the car, and anywhere there is contrast you will see a waviness in the paint; a texture that resembles the surface of an orage peel.
-D'oh!

haha....funny pics.
anyway, is any of this covered under warranty? or is it just something you have to deal with? i noticed it on my car...very slightly...but it's still there. i didn't know if you can take it to the dealer to have them repaint the car or something???

It seems to only be a problem on the doors though...
Anyone can fix this if they know how to wet sand and use a high speed buffer. Any body shop can do it for you too. I however would not trust your nissan dealer's detail shop with it though. This needs to be done professionally.

thanks. i went and looked at my car. it's very very slight. only an **** retentive person like myself would really notice it. and you can only notice it from really close up. and you can old see it at certain angles...ya know what....thinking about it...it takes more time to see it on my car than it does to not see it! haha. i heard that it's the hardest to see on silverstone z's. is that true? if so...that's why it's hard to see on my car!
