Default sponsored and magazine covers...??

i was just wondering what it took to get sponsored for a build or get your 350Z on the cover or even in the pages of a magazine. i know there are a lot of owners on here who have achieved this...some more then once. but has it ever been discussed just how you go about to achieve this.

i have found multiple sponsorship sites online but they all ask for money. whatever happened to getting sponsored by just advertising ones company on their ride? well if anyone would like to shed some light on the topic feel free. i know i'd like to know how one goes about getting that elusive superstreet or modified cover!!

you have to creat a portfolio of your car, represent how many showes you go to and how many ppl see your car at the showes, you have to show a work progression in your car. also you have to determine why sponsoring your car is worth it over another lets say Z?

what makes your Z so special. you have to outline these in a portfolio and submit it to different companies.

Im in the show scene and there is allot of work to get sponsored and maintain it. If you have no clue about it then FORGET IT! also with big names, like HKS or seibon or what not, you got to have the hook ups and know people. its mostly politics for the top dog stuff, but you got to understand people are giving you MONEY and you have to justify why you and not someone else.

Couldn't have said it better. I have been at it for a year and a half with a room full of trophies and still only have partial sponsors and one full. It is a LOT of work!!

X2, having been sponsored and sponsored numerous cars it tends to be one big hassle, especially if your not in the Socal area. Unless you have time to attend major shows, usually atleast 5 a year, then dont even bother making a proposal. It always helps to have a letter of intent from a magazine.

The most common misconception with sponsorships is that everyone thinks they get free parts. 90% of sponsorships still require you to purchase parts just below or at cost. Very rarely will you see a company offer a full sponsorship unless you are being published by a major magazine.

Best of luck !

Jim

I have 4 full sponsors and have had a magazine feature. It's mostly who you know, not what you have....It took me 3 years and 2 trips to sema to get a handful of good contacts.

I think that's a major part of it....as well as everything else. Modding your car is a lot easier (and cheaper) when you have connections

This buffet restaurant owner offered me free food for as long as the restaurant stands. The only requirement is to put a 3' sticker that says "Best Buffet" on my door.

Ah... That would be really tight if the sticker was a good deal smaller like 12" maybe. 3' is BIG especialy for a restaurant... maybe for some kind of aftermarket company would be cool but Best Buffet... not for me.

I'm sponsored by Golden Corral and Arby's. I just had to get a full hood size vinyl and another vinyl that covers the entire back half of my car. , JK.
