Never has happened to me or any of my passengers (at least no one has told me). Put a dryer sheet in each armpit before you enter the car.

Default Static is a B......

My 300ZX used to shock to H.. out of me, but no one else.
My tahoe, is killing me in the winter time, to where I am scared to come out of the car.
I may be a combination of thing.
On the 300ZX I finaly instaled on of those grounding strap, to the chassi, and touch the ground when you stop.
it worked out well.
The Tahoe , I cannot find one long enought to reach the ground.
He's killing me every cold dry day. I know I am getting nail if I am not carfull not to touch any metal as I put my foot on the ground.
Even the screw that old the inside door handel killed me a few time.

Has a lot to do with what you wear and how dry your skin is along with the local weather conditions (cold and such). I have very dry skin and as such am subject to static charge. I used to have a meter where I worked and we had a contest to see who could generate the highest charge. If I wore slacks I could generate over 10KV just sliding off the stool at my bench.

Suggest you tie two of the rubber straps together. Drill a hole in them and put a screw thru it with a self retaining nut on the other side (so it can reach the ground).

You simply need a low impedance path to ground.

I have leather in my Z and I still get the shocks. It has happened with every car I have ever pwnd. Definitly happens more in the winter, particularly on really dry days.

Wonder if you could attach the shift pattern plate on the shifter **** to the linkage and then to ground somehow as to dissipate the charge while driving. (dibs on the patent)
