Default Break-in period??

I know the break-in period is about 1200 miles, however, I do not know exactly how I should treat my car during the first 1200 miles. I live in Southern California and I was thinking of purchasing a 350Z from a dealer in Oregon because Oregon has no sales tax. Would an 800 mile drive right off the bat be bad for the Z? Thanks in advance.

Main thing is to vary the speed (rpms). And keep it from spending too much time over 4000!!!! (if you can).

Many different opinions on this. Proper break-in suggests that you alter the RPM's, or better yet, that you do not keep the engine at one constant RPM for say 800 miles or so. Whatever you do, do NOT drive the first 800 miles with the cruise control set.

ideal driving is city driving, stop and go... but its also important to get a chance to shift into all gears, not just go up and down in 2nd.

800miles at 60mph=not ideal.

but do what you gotta do, hit the slow lane, switch up between 4-6th gear, and vary RPMs, it can be done.

Just make sure you alter the speed and cruise control is a big no-no

You'll still pay state tax. It's based on where you live, not where you purchase the car.

YMMV,
