I drive bear foot 99% of the time. I never wear sandals while driving.....just shove them under the seat. I like to have pedal feel.
At track days though i wear race shoes....which are suede and baller.

I wear sandals anytime i am not going to work. By sandals, I mean the type that have two straps going over the front (very secure). I heel toe alot better in the sandals than my shoes. I guess i can feel the pedal alot better in the sandals. With the shoes i will tap on the gas too much or, way too often, not hard enough.

I can't drive in them either.
I could in the automatic, but not in the manual. It's more that they slip about - I find it hard to drive bare foot too.
As for the "manly" comments, the ones I have have beer openers in the bottom of them, how more manly could they be?
Also, the barefoot driving comment - how would the cop know? It must have been for something else (speeding etc) and that you can't have had shoes in the car... I just can't see how else you could be done for that.

Driving in flip flops is my favorite, but heels aren't bad either... People are always impressed when they realize I'm driving my car with 4 inch stilettos... but I find it easier to drive in heels than sneakers, actually. Sneakers stick to the pedals too much.

man.. I'm pretty sure the entire country of Philippines (everyone drives a manual there) wear flip flops and drive with them on. If an entire country can do it, I don't see why anyone else can't.

Tried driving with flip flops and barefoot, didn't go too great. Over-revved like a mother. I drive in my slip-on Vans. WEARING COKE WHITES BUT MY VANS LOOK CLEAN.
I drive best when I'm naked.
