I had a teacher that always wore boots with high heels on them in the Winter. She drove a 5 spd. Jetta. After spending an entire class wondering how exactly one could shift in those, I asked.

She told me, "It's all in the toes."

Still makes me laugh for some reason.

I bouhght a pair of flip flops yesterday and drove my Z for the 1st time with them on. I personally prefer shoes for both drivability and safety.

How the hell does a cop ticket someone not wearing shoes and driving barefoot? Do they have some sort of "barefoot detector" or something? Or is this sort of one of those secondary offense things?

I'm 6'4", with size 15 feet.

I test-drove a standard while wearing sandals. Gotta love Texas!

I'd like to wear a more dedicated "driving" shoe, but it's just too hot in Texas to wear shoes all summer long.

ha!
my mom macked a pole because her flip flop got stuck above the gas and below the brake so she couldnt press the brake or let off the gas (how that happened i have no idea). it was in a parking lot at about 10mph's in a beater civic she ended up selling for 1 dollar (literally) she was so pissed. I still laugh when I remeber that

Personally I dont drive with flip flop's or anything that doesnt have a backing. with all the movement down there i dont like the all the play that they create.
Never know when you need those evasive manuevers to dodge the bogies of your commute home

I wear flip flops 95% of the time here in Miami and I once tried driving with them on and I stalled the first time cause they got stuck so I just take them off and I drive barefoot. I like it much better becasue you can actually fell the pedals and it is much easier to heel-toe

Living in Texas, flip-flops are a must... But they certainly are really dangerous driving. I always kick them off as soon as I climb in. The aluminum pedals are pretty grippy on a barefoot...

I love driving barefoot, however, how would anyone know if you're driving barefoot, let alone a cop? I must be missing the part where drivers are sticking their feet out the window...

Have fun killing yourself over a fashion choice that makes you look like a goober.

Best thing to do as stated before is not to wear them. Now with that said I do wear them and yes I have the same problem. Best thing to do is take them off and drive barefoot.

I guess you've never been in the tropics or hot weather? if an entire country or island can drive with flip flops/sandals on.. then why can't you? don't have the skills for it?
