I am pretty sure his question has been answered but I will reitterate. I recently purchased my '05 fairlady and before doing so I did a LOT of reading on this board. Funny how I found all the info that you are looking for which influenced my purchase HEAVILY. The 2003's and up through 2004 1/2 have lots of issues with tire feathering. Some have been able to fix the problem with alignment, some have not. Tires are expensive to replace every few thousand miles.... Then there are the tranny issues, this was a nissan covered problem and if this car has 49k miles on it then it is maybe ok. Test drive it and do some shifting at high rpm and if it grinds, then it has issues and needs the updated tranny (this of coarse pending you can drive a MT). Window motors are a minor annoyance on most years. Starting in 2006 with the updated VQ some burn oil like crazy. It is a general consensus that 2005 and 2007 are the most trouble free years/editions of the fairlady. AGAIN, I found all this information posted in MANY MANY threads on here and those threads can offer a more in-depth explanation that I just provided. On the FD forum, if you do not utilize the search function you are flamed off the forum...

Ok I see. Maybe it is just my experience changing turbo setups on a car but it is unlikely you will be able to buy the car, and boost it for under your $22k goal.. There are lots of other associated fees, misc. costs and suppourting mods that need to be added along with whatever FI kit (sc or tt) that you choose. Not to mention a good tune will cost you as well.

Good luck with the car. I would love to see pics later...

all years have issues. If you want the best get a 03/04/05 non-rev up that already had the new 009 transmission part number put in.

Or the 05/06 Rev-Up that had the new v2 rev-up engine put in. Hard to find, but if the owner has paperwork and reciepts with the part numbers you're good to go. The guy I bought mine from had all the paperwork showing he had a brand new 009 transmission put in and new clutch from Nissan under warranty, so I bought his.

I personally never buy used cars without a full service history.

The tires feathering is a non-issue unless you run the OEM tires nissan shipped with.
