Default Weight Reduction in the 350z

Kelly Blue Book states that the curb weight for the base 350z weighs in at 3188 lbs. Can someone post all the different modifications that can lower the curb weight a few hundred pounds and the predicted amount of weight it can reduce?

Thanks in advance

mods that you add that would reduce a couple hundred pounds?

hardly that much..you might be fortunate enough to shave the 88 in 3188.

lighter wheels
diff or Ti exhaust
lighter flywheel
brakes and rotors
Ti or lighter coilovers
carbon fiber hood

perhaps that will do it..

other than that start taking things out and off
like seat, AC, spare tire and tools.etc..

There are alot of things you can do to take weight off the car, the question is "HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO GO?" Is this a daily driven street car, a track car, Auto-X, Drag, or show car?

There isn't alot of things you could do to a daily driven street car without alot of sacrafice, you can take out air bag, but then you loose that. You can take out sound damping material, but you get a really loud car, etc etc.

This is however the furthest I have seen anyone ever went.

Wish I had the complete article, but that will do just fine.

There are a few things that are fairly simple that will aide in total weight. Some were mentioned before, and I will list a few more. However some of the items listed reduce "rotational" weight thus allowing for less hp loss. It depends on what exactly you are after.

Items that can be removed to reduce weight:

passenger seat
spare tire/jack
under carpet sound dampening material
carpeting
door panels
hatch panels
AC
plastic cover pieces
window wiper fluid
radiator overflow bottle
radio
speakers
one of two e-brake cables (if a Z has two, mine is on order and never thoguht about that before)

Removing those items may net you 50-100 lbs at the cost of making your car ugly, a one seater, and noisier than hell.

Items you can swap to something lighter:

wheels
battery
flywheel
brakes/rotors
hood
aero kit
steering wheel
fenders
engine bolts (arp) hahaha

These items may save you another 50-100 lbs.

Now what you need to ask yourself is this. Is getting rid of all this stuff or replacing it with lighter stuff worth .1 in a 1/4 mile? Let alone the fact that these things will lessen the value of your ride and make it pretty crappy looken IMO...
