Seems to me like you've got legitimate cause to go back and complain and possibly take legal action. False advertisement is NOT ok.

Yeah, but there's a difference between being lied to and somebody just not knowing what they're talking about. Granted, the guy was an idiot and whoever made the window sticker for the used car screwed up, but not sure it's worth persuing; up to you, I guess. Most you might get out of them is some free oil changes or something, most likely.

Bottom line is we all live in the same "**** happens" world. When it does, some poeple like to wade through it and finger paint with it; I prefer just to flush it and get on with life. As long as it wasn't a deliberate misdirection or malicious act (which it doesn't sound like it was), just jiggle the handle man; you'll feel better and live longer not stressing over such things.

I'm not quite sure about Florida, but in Texas they have consumer laws to protect you from false advertisement and misrepresentation. They also make it to where it is worth suing in that they give you attorney's fees as well and triple damages if the car salesman knowingly said the car had HID lights when he knew in fact it didn't so as to persuade you to buy the car. If the dealership acts like an a-hole when you bring it up to them maybe you can contact a lawyer who has free consultations. Just an idea to throw out there.

I dont think i'll take it as far a getting a lawyer. I'd rather spend $200 and get my own setup then go through all that hassle.

I'm just gonna go in there this weekend, state my case and see how they react. I'll be fine with a couple of oil changes but still am kinda mad because I did ask and it was a deciding factor in buying the car.

This doesn't bother me as much as some seem to think. I LOVE my Z. I've wanted it ever since a friend let me drive his back in 03. The time was finally right and i got the exact car i wanted. Low mileage PPW (15,500 miles). I'm not gonna let some headlights rain on my parade. I will get HID soon though wether it be from the dealer or buying it myself.

200.00 for your own set up? Are you talking of after market HID kit? If so then DONT! Save some money to get the OEM HID headlight! You can find them for cheaper around the FS section here or on ebay. Want more? Go with 06+housing since they are nicer. But if on the budget then stick with 03-05 HID housing.

If the dealership doesn't offer anything that will satisfy you in this situation, tell them you are contacting the DMV. As an individual consumer who has already bought a car, you are not in a power position. However, I have yet to see a dealership who isn't scared of the DMV (or your state's equivalent body that oversees/governs auto sales).

Filing a complaint with the DMV should make the dealership quickly change their tune because they know it will be way too much of a hassle otherwise. Plus, there really isn't a reason you need a lawyer nor will it really take all that much time. just my .02

If it said it has HID on the sticker then it should have it regardless of what trim package is on the car. Dealers install things all the time especially when a car is new and in demand.

Go back....make a big stink about it....have them price it out (which will be over $1000 easy), then negotiatie. Maybe get $500 in free services, buy the lights for $200 and your golden.

How do you tell when a dealer is lying?

When his lips are moving.

+1 on making a big deal out of it. For one, you were lied too, and the car was misrepresented. Secondly, they might think twice about doing it again, or at least be more careful when creating the "sticker". Do it for you, and everyone else they have, or may end up screwing over in the future.

Stick it to the man! If you got screwed over by a dealer, I would not feel bad in the slightest about raising hell with them. Most car salesmen (not ALL, I know there are some good guys on here) are dicks anyway that will lie and use any other methods necessary to bring in that commission. Take the advice of some of the others and check out the DMV and see if you can't get a set of maybe 06 HIDs... then trade me for my 04s But really, make things right for yourself

did you buy this car from carmax? they screw up like this all the time. same thing happend to me, drove the car for a week before realizing it was not an enthusiast as it was advertised. i took her back, and explained to them about their error, they had another Z with less miles in better condition shipped from houston, in the mean time i was allowed to drive the base Z. i drove a Z free for 30 days, got all my shipping from the original car refunded as well as free shipping on the new Z.

My dealer listed my 2003 Touring as a 2003 Base. Maybe I should go back and demand cloth seats and halogen lamps.
