I would say "driveline" traction control system would be the LSD aka "final drive". TCS/VDC is computer operated with sensors. Who knows though, they seem retarded so... I would definatly take advantage of any and evey opportunity this creates for you.

I don't have to read pages 2 and 3 of the thread, because I am totally on the OP's side on this one after page 1. He asked a question because he had doubts, and they gave him bad information. He knew that the catalog 'Base' trim did not have HID's, but he can't be expected to know that Nissan does not offer HID headlights as an optional adder. In fact, he can't be expected to know jack **** about the car. The seller's obligation is to accurately advertise the product he is selling, and this seller failed to do so. In my opinion the OP has reason to go back to the seller to state his case and should either have an OEM HID headlight set installed, or be given a credit in the amount of the OEM HID headlight set. And since this is pre-2006 model, he should be entitled to the pre-2006 headlights.

To the OP, HID headlights was also a requisite for me when I was shopping for my Z. Ultimately that was one of the key reasons I went with a 2006 model, because not only did all 2006 trim levels come with HID lights but it was also the bi-xenon system which I preferred over the pre-2006 setup. AND, one of the things I did when I went to pick the car up was turn on the headlights and verify that it did indeed have HID's. Up to that point I just went by what the 2006 brochure said, so I never actually asked anyone. And I have to say that when you are looking at HID lights at 11:30 AM on a sunny spring day they don't look the same as they do at night. To me the light output looked a little yellow and so then I asked the guy to confirm that they were the HID lights and he said they were. And you, having no prior experience with HID lighting, might not know what to look for, especially if it is sunny out.

I'm with you all the way on this one.

You're not going get very far if you're trying to get something for nothing. Many time with used car companies like CarMax, they use 3rd party services that create these template descriptionx of the car and it's options. Most of them are not 100% correct especially with the confusing trim options of the Z. The original sticker from Nissan will say HID (High Intensity Discharge) or Halogen lights (Non HID). Many people also get Halogen/HID confused and think that they are the same.

Not sure on this one. Headlights you might be able to get pricing from a Nissan dealer or something. Maybe even the parts department at the place you bought it (if it was a Nissan dealer...?).

Although I think I would go about it differently. When you quote someone a price, that price represents a specific scope of supply. In this case, the price was on the sticker, and the sticker was the scope of supply. So if you go back to the dealer and they say "...well, the price you paid only represents a true base model, i.e. non-HID, no cruise ctrl., etc" then I say that's unacceptable. As far as you knew, you were getting a car with a,b,c options for $x. Now you find out that while you still paid $x, you didn't get a,b, or c. And you can legitimately argue that the only reason you bought the car at that price was because it was advertised that it came with a,b and c.

Then they will come out and say "...well show us where else you can get this car with all of those options at the price you paid". And even if that is true, I say it's irrelevant because you weren't buying the car from anyone else, you were buying it from them.

Man, you got me all worked up on this! I sure hope they step up and do what's right.

You can still tell apart HID from Halogen. If you cant tell the difference then thats your fault there buddy. Its a night and day difference.

but did they sell the OP the price of a BASE model or a Different one????
If they collected money from him as a different model then it is an issue.
If they did not, then why is it matter?
They might have put the wrong sticker on and the sale person might be stupid. That could happen.

Well that was one of my points. Whether they labeled it 'Base', 'Enthusiast', 'Touring' or 'Ferrari', the fact is that the features advertised on the window sticker were not physically included with the car.

And in my opinion the dealership is ultimately responsible for the actions of their salesperson, so they should own up to any stupidity that was committed by their employee.

totally agree with you and I think they should do something to compensate for their stupidity!!!
However, if they sold him the car with a price of a base model then there is no big deal, imo.

I don't know how dealers work, but i assume that if they list all those feature, it would of been factored into the price. So the OP should be able to bluebook the prices difference between the two trim and that's how much he should claim against the dealer.

Holy mother a lot of dealerships either a. don't know wtf they're talking about b. lie c. all of the above.

I got interested in a 2005 350Z at a local Nissan dealership. Thank God I did my research before looking. They said it was an enthusiast, with HIDs, cruise, traction. It had NOTHING. They said the Canadian models didn't have these options and Nissan took them out. LMFAO.

ba-bye
