Default Just can't decide!!

Well, I just cant seem to decide between the Z and the G35! I like the looks of both, I do kinda like the idea of just a two seater! I wondered, what are the major differences between the two? Im totally new to the whole car thing period as you can see by my current truck!! This will be my first car and I dont want to regret my purchase. Im currently leaning toward the Z because, as you can see by my current vehicle, I like to mod whatever I get and there seem to be more accessories for the Z! Also, the Nissan dealer is like 2 miles away where as the Infiniti dealer is close to a hundred!! What are some relatively easy mods to do to up the performance of the Z? Well, Im just talkin out loud, but just wanted to introduce myself and say great site!!

Sigh...
I feel your pain, I'm also in the market for a car and I've pretty much boiled it down to 350Z and G35.
They're pretty much the same car. The only difference is of course the body and the fact that 350Z is a little lighter and has 17 more horsepower than the G35. Also, G35 is more on the luxury side and 350Z leans more on the raw sports vehicle side.

If you're looking to modify your new car, get the 350Z.
I've heard there are a lot more after-market parts for the 350Z.

Have you considered a Subaru WRX STi or Lancer Evolution?
You seem like the type to like that car, I don't know why, I just got that kind of vibe from you. They're about the same price as the 350Z and G35, since it's your first car, think it through and best of luck!

Oh yes, Ive looked at those too, but I really am just wanting a driving coupe if you know what I mean. Just something that is fun to drive and you can just relax in! Ive been lookin and think I may go w/ the Z just due to the fact its a little sportier and it has MANY more aftermarket accessories! I still havent decided whether Im goin to trade in my truck or not. Ill probly wait a little while to get the car just to make up my mind on everything. Now the real question, I wonder how long it takes to get here after I order it!!

I've heard up to six months, but if you order it, you cannot get the 2003 price and you cannot negotiate for price. Dealers will be trying to get rid of 2003 soon, take advantage of it.

First of all, it depends on what you want. If you want something nicer as far as interior, get a G35C. If you want a 2-seater mainly for speed, get a 350Z. They are on the same platform. There are no differences in the accessory/mod department, they are the same car, same engine, just the G35 is longer, so as far as exhausts, you will have to get a mechanic to weld on a 7" pipe to extend it to fit the G35, or just get an exhaust made for the G35C. Do you want the back seat?, or just a 2-seater roadster feel? Do you want a louder intake, or quieter? The G35C's is quieter, therefore it loses 7hp at the crank. Do you want something cheaper as far as price? Get the Z, it starts out at 26k for the Base. And if you do get the Z, what model will you get?; Base, Enthusiast, Performance, Touring or Track model?

The new 2004 models will be cheaper than the 2003 model's because they will be more popular. Although the 2003's will be priced to go out the door at unreasonable prices, the 2004's won't be far ahead.

Default Answer --resale and actuarial numbers

I was in the same situation a few months back this is why I bought the z.

I can still take my child in the passenger seat.

And I spoke to an actuarial scientist other wise know as the individuals that sets the constant # for insurance companies when they appraise cars. The person told me that there is a big difference in the appraisal numbers specifically for the z compared to the g35.

Just think about the infiniti q45 55 K brand new, after a few years you can get the car for 25K, basically people dont care or trust the fact that infiniti is a nissan car they think it is a mildly respected brand like kia.

It is going to take a long time for people to respect nissan cars like infiniti.

Also regarding maket demographics there are a lot more people insterested in sporty cars like the bmw 330, infiniti g35 while the z is definitely a speciality sports car. Remeber the z competes with 40-60K cars while the g35 has so many more competitors. So do you spend 5 k more and get a bmw or do you spend 15K+ more and get a boxter or m3 as compared to the z?

From personal experience, the bmw 330 dosent have the same internal environment as the z, I feel like pushing the car to its limits, but when I had the bmw I didnt feel like pushing it because it was a sporty luxury car....
good luck

Im lookin for an enjoyable car and fun to drive!! Ive been looking, and when I get a Z it will be the fully decked out Touring model w/ DVD navigation system, and 5AT! I like the idea of just a 2 seat, roadsteresq vehicle! One of the main differences is distance to dealer! The Nissan dealer is about 2 miles away, the Infiniti is around a hundred!! Im just now startin to save up for the down payment so itll be a while before I actually get to have one!! I was just curious, there is a Z on the lot here at the Nissan dealer that is just like I want it just doesnt have the DVD nav system, couldnt the dealer install that and just add the cost?

5AT??????????????????????????? Please don't... No j/k man. The dealer should be able to install it, I am almost positive he/she/they would, it will cost you of course, but probably not as much if you special order a Z. BTW, you need to change your signature now.

I did the same thing and then decided I WANTED the two-seater sports car. So you know which one I bought. And I am happy as hell.
