Question W A R R A N T Y

How's it going fellow Z and G35 owners, i just have a quick question, I wanted to make a right decision on my warranty issue. See, I just recently purchased a 2005 Z and the car came with the GOLD PREFERRED EXTENDED WARRANTY for free, which is the best extended warranty you could get from nissan.

I have a couple of nismo parts coming in, exhaust, headers, swar bars, (motordyne plenum spacer conflicts with warranty) and intake. I ask for a quote for labor from nissan STEALERSHIP and the STEALERSHIP ****'s are charging me 1500-2000 dollars (a$$ rape) .

Is it worth keeping the warranty which is 6yrs or 72000 miles, if 1500 just for the labor is too much, and if the 2005 Z doesn't have that much issues as far as OEM parts breaking down, I might as well cancel the warranty and get my money back. Plus I have to bring the car in everytime for maintenance, and they charge a **** load too.

Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated. Smart a$$ comments will get you banned!!! LOL Thanks again...

I personally like warranties, in case anything big goes out, theres no cost out of my pocket. You do not have to have the dealership install the after market parts, you can have who ever install them. But if an after market part causes something to go bad, IE intake sucks in water, you hydro-lock the motor, its not going to be covered. If your engine throws a rod, for some reason that is not related to neglected maintenance, or racing it would be covered. Make sense?

I got you, but the god damn stealership ****'s are insisting of getting it installed at the dealership. Can somebody provide me a link of a hard copy that I could slap to their friggin' faces that says "it doesn't have to be installed from the dealership". I would really appreciate it, and I will post the slapping session on youtube and you will be the one to see it first

one more question, does maintenance have to be with the dealership, or can i do the maintenance? how can i justify that i did all the maintenane required?

I'm not sure if this is covered yet, searching... searching...

i know it's been covered before, my info is based off of Fords coverage on the items. I personally would'nt even tell them about the parts. Also as long as you get routine maintenance done, they can't force you to use them for oil changes, etc.

I am unaware of your warranty plan, but all scheduled maintenance through them? ****.... that would be the deal breaker right there.

I would just put the parts on. None of those will void your warranty. It is easier to argue with them when the parts are already on there then it is to talk them into being "ok" with someone else installing them. The spacer will void your warranty but is hard to spot unless your looking for it. What i've noticed though from past experience is, the fact that your car has any mods to it sends them searching with a microscope. They saw my aftermarket exhaust and before i picked my car back up, all my aftermarket parts were documented. They didn't see the spacer the last time i was in there for an altenator ampage check.

Why sell it, they have to prove the mod you put on is what caused the defect! they just cant void it cause its on there. They have to prove w/o resonable doubt it cause it. enjoy your spacer, that's a great mod.

Actually my dealership hasn't been too bad for maintenance. They send me coupons every 2 months or so for crap like a $14 oil change in less than an hour or it's free (I got one for free already, took them 65 minutes, LOL). $15 air filter replacement (which are $18 a piece from them). $48 transmission service. You get the idea. Anyway the coupons make them competetive, and sometimes better than anyplace else (Where are you going to get a $14 oil change and know it's right without doing it yourself?). But normal price... **** that! Just my $.02.

dont sell the spacer, their not going to find it unless they rip off your plenum for some reason. Rarely are cars taken to the dealer for air leak problems. Most of the work warranty applies to is under the car. Enjoy the mod.

The key to using your warranty is finding the right dealership. I found a good one and they either didnt care that i had an aftermarket clutch/flywheel or didnt notice while replacing the tranny.

PS Mid nitrous install so solenoids were mounted along with controls in navi spot.

so far i got my rear axle clicking noise taken care of... I was in the dealership for 5hrs, I was the very first car there this morning and it took them that long. I made a complaint about the sticky gear shifting and losing pressure on the clutch so they decided to have the master cylinder ordered... I just felt like I'm not taking car of when it comes to fixing the problems in my car, but when I told them that I might trade in my car for the newer one, all of a sudden they treat me differently... LOL i should tell them i will trade my Z in every time i go there for repairs LOL

jesus 5 hours? did they start the work and it took them 5 hours. .or was it that long to do the work and even get it inside too start the work?. .took me like 30 minutes and i did both sides myself. .i took my car one time only for the alignment issue (tire feathering) and they had to look at the car, probably drove it around for fun, then when i picked it up 1/2 a day later they said i had to come back because they ordered my tires, and they had to confirm it was the recall. .i was beside myself. .then finally a few days later i took the car over and it took them more then 1/2 the day to put on 2 damn tires, and they didnt have to align it i told them due to the fact that i own my own hunter alignment machine. .to top it all off few hours b4 i picked it up they called me at work telling me that at 20K i needed certain tune up parts. .thieves. .Imagine how many poor souls they get with that one. .specially some women/illegals who know nothing about the cars. .
they keep sending me the fuel line above my gas tank recall, and i refuse to go. .if or when i smell gas then i may consider it. .otherwise i'll BUY the part myself and do it myself. .im not letting them remove my borla, and stillen sway kit/gtspec bars to drop my gas tank. .F that ****. .other then axle click/window smear/tire issue. .my Z's running and now working beautifully. .
