Default How much is a wrecked then fixed Z worth?

I'm trying to get an idea of what my "repaired by insurer" Z is worth...

It's a 2005 Z Track with 50k miles on it.

Chassis is straight.

Total repair cost were 19k$...

I'm guessing in the 12k$ range?

I disagree. 12,900$ tops. Car will show signs of major repair.

Trying to gather evidence to make a diminished value claim against your insurer? You'll also need to check your state laws and your policy to ensure that diminished value claims are covered in your state/policy.

I'm guessing that $19K includes the price of the car. I do body work and most that would have that much damage would be a parts only car, unless it was slight, fixable damage all over.

And I guess you have experience in collision repair? We're not talking MAACO here. If a job's done right the only way you can tell it was ever wrecked is on paper, and sometimes not even then.

19k repair cost, isn't that more than half and wouldn't that be considered total loss?
well anyways, it could be that he went to a really expensive place

In these days, the cheapest way the insurance company can get out of it is the name of the game. So, if they are making a decision to cut someone a check for $25K or repair it for $19K. They will repair it as long as it is safe to do so. Therefore, no salvage title. However, in most cases it will show up on search using services such as CarFax.com

If you are talking about buying the car with $19K of damages on it. I'd say stay away. The squeaks etc... that you MIGHT have to deal with wouldn't be worth the headache. If this is your vehicle and you have lifetime warantee on repairs your OK. Most likey, if you couldn't find the squeaks it could cost you a bunch to fix those. If this is your car, I wouldn't expect anyone to buy it for over $10K with such damage unless you don't disclose it. However, if this isn't your car and you are planning on stripping it to race. Buy it for $10K install a roll bar and completely check out the car yourself. You can do support welds if you need to for strength etc.... However, for the street I don't think I'd mess with a vehicle that had been hit so hard or had so much repair done to it. Been there done that and it was on a $700 car. Just not good when a high performance car with the type of mono frame we have has been hit.

If the chassis is straight... 12k sounds fair. Hopefully nothing was skimmed when being repaired, that would be my greatest concern.

Really, you'd pay that much with that type of damage? It's got to be pretty bad if it needed $19,000.00 to repair it. Especially, in this economy where everything is dropping like a rock. Don't forget it has 50K miles on it too and most likely has had some serious track time on it.

Hopefully, it won't have to go to court. But you got the right impression. My attorney is looking into it.

To give you an idea.. my 07base was 1 month old with 2000 miles on it when I got hit. Almost 19,000 in damages so similar to your case.. i was quoted $16,000 when i tried getting rid of it. With it being an 05 and that much mileage I'd say your probably lookin at around $12,000 or so? Goodluck with diminished value, 8 months later im still trying.
