slave cylinder recall problems... not the part, but the stealership
EDIT: sorry for length... its been a long process and a major pain in the ***!
(**note that i made an appointment about a week in advance**)
I took my car in friday at about 1 and they said they would most likely have it done by the end of the day. Then i got a call saying it would be done saturday by noon latest... I got ANOTHER call saying it wasnt going to be untill 2 because "i have some extra stuff on my car" (only thing that is "extra" on my car is intakes and grounding kit, which is in NO way in the way of the transmission, test pipes are in the box waiting for this damn recall)
I call them around one oclock (an hour before it was supposed to be done) telling them it takes an hour to get there and i was just wondering if it was close to being done so i could start heading up there. they told me that the other dealerships arent giving out their recall parts so it would be at least monday the EARLIEST...
The service manager said that he would have to call nissan and see when the part could get shipped to them, so it might not be until mid week when i get my car back, i had told them that i had made the appointment in advance and was wondering why they didnt get the part, i was told that they have to match the part to my vin.
(match the part to my vin? meaning what exactly? every single z needing the part replaced has its own one off part from nissan?)
i told them that my z is my ONLY mode of transportation and i would have to bum rides everywhere and they need to get me a rental car since it is going to take 5 times longer than they actually said, he said "well i cant do anything for ya there the car rental place is closed till monday" (this was around 1 pm saturday afternoon)
he then said that he could have the tech put my transmission and everything back together and get it back on the car "good enough to where i can drive it" i said hell no to that...
i asked why they even took my car apart then if they didnt have the part and that question kind of got forgot about with his mumbling about the other stealerships being the problem and not his...
so im not naming any names but DD auto group somewhere in the dfw area of texas will NEVER get any of my business because of the constant run-around i have been dealing with and poor customer service...
I am very sad to hear all the problems that people are having, i am very glad to hear about people's good experiences though... i thought that nissan and the nissan dealers would have treated customers better who buy their vehicles, not to mention their 30 thousand dollar sports cars, i guess not...

damn, i'm sorry to hear that. stealerships in san antonio aren't that great to me customer service wise (haven't needed anything bigger, knock on wood) but up in college station, that dealership is the BEST dealership i've ever dealt with - in regards to anything. They're nice, honest people. ie - i called to see how much dealers would charge to reprogram TPMS sensors, i got 80 bucks and 50 bucks before i called Douglass nissan in college station, they said "oh just the sensors? oh thats free come on by whenever"
back to topic, wish there were more honest good businesses out there. good luck to you. they should atleast give you a loner car or something - i would keep complaining and if they don't budge, call corporate or something. good luck man

im trying to hold off on calling to get anyone in trouble but if my car isnt done monday then i will complain for sure on tuesday morning, i will send emails to the dealer that has my car every 15 minutes if i have to... its a shame that it would need to come to that though, thats what makes me mad about the whole thing. things arent like they used to be. even though im only 19 i remember buying cars from people when i got my license at 14 and going to dealerships and everyone was friendly and willing to help out. now you have to complain and b*tch and moan to fifteen different people to get your point accross...
Well im having a similar problem too..i had an appt set for sat and they told me in advance that they had the parts in stock. but then when i went to pick the car up, they said that as of two days ago, Nissan has put the parts on restriction. And dealerships must first match the vin, then inspect to see if the replacement is necessary!!!! I told them my peddle had dropped to the floor once before, and thank god they got the parts ordered. but i was dropping my car off for the recall and didnt get it done, i was pretty pissed. so now i have to bring the car in next weeekkk...stupid nissan. I guess a lot of peopl are getting this done even if they dont need it and nissan is getting picky..
That is totally messed up! I'd have a talk with the general manager and then a call to Nissan customer service. I'm fortunate to have a dealer that treats me like royalty and I always let them know how much I appreciate it. I stopped by and the service manager said he had to order the part. I got a call the next day that the part was there. Took the car in the next day at 8 AM, they gave me a loaner car, and got a call at 1 o'clock that the car was ready to go. Picked the car up and as I was leaving I saw the mechanic going into a nearby Taco Bell. I stopped and bought his lunch for him.

For as many bad dealerships are out there and bad experiences people are having with them I have to say Nissan of Elk Grove in California did a great job with the recall on my car. Dropped it off Wednesday morning and picked it up Wednesday afternoon. Simple as that. I even asked if my slave cylinder needed to be switched out and the tech replied they will change it out no matter what because Nissan is offering a new part and its a recall. I could definitely feel the difference after. It didn't feel quite as loose.

Okay, one thing to correct is yes your intake and wires could be in the way. When they do your transmission they have to remove the driver side intake assembly out of the way to access the top of the transmission. It is very possible your aftermarket items got in the way.

Gunn Nissan is a great dealer here in SA. They also support ZSport of SA (The Z club in san Antonio as a sponsor). And they don't mind mods.

Your VIN number is needed by dealerships to order parts. It's not something about one-off parts, it's more about identifying your vehicle's trim and stuff.

OK..........Slave cylinder issue...?? Two days ago when I got into my Z to go to work the clutch pedal was to the floor. I pumped it 2x and it built up pressure. Haven't had an issue since..(10K miles on it now) Would n't this be caused by the pistons bleeding by? Should I take to the Southpoint dealer even though it has not happened again? I cannot afford to be "broke" down as I travel a ways to work or even worse have my wife break down!
just another reason why i just dont my car to the dealer. .look if you guys have the money to buy the damn Z then stop bitching about fixing it and take it to a local mechanic who will actually troubleshoot the car and fix it right the 1st damn time. .or come to North Brunswick New Jersey. .and i'll fix it for you!!!!

ok im gunna drive to texas all the way to new jersey so you can fix my slave cylinder... that was a dumb thing to say on your part. and yeah i have the money to buy the z but why in hell would i want to spend money when what is wrong with our cars is NOT our fault? thats like saying let me come demolish your car and then YOU pay for it... you make no sense
dealer probably doesn't know how to fix it hence why it's taking so long. .them out of high school mechanics they got don't do nothing. and you've probably wasted money already on the loss of your car for the past 3 weeks or so that it's been at the dealer so regardless you've paid for the work in some way.
Only time i ever took my car to the dealer was for the free tires i got from the recall on alignment that i fixed myself. and b4 they even got the work done i got a call from service telling me at 20K i needed a tune up n yada yada. .i laffed at the guy. I wonder how many morons they get on that one. regardless gentlemen it's just a statement i made about coming to jerzee. .if your taking it to heart grab a cookie n take it easy. .im sure your Z will see the dealer for something else real soon!!
ps. .you drive from Texas to NJ. . .
