question
they might only cover the cost of the stock wheels unless you report to them of the upgrade, it will affect your premium of course but not by too much. but then again i'm not an agent. you should contact your insurance agent for an exact answer.
No receipt = no proof = no coverage.
Contact you agent for sure as policies vary by company. They might accept a picture as proof of ownership. My agent wanted me to come by so they could take a pic for my file when I put my Volks on.

My insurance company told me that aftermarket wheels and most anything else after market is not covered under my insurance.
Funny thing is I'm sure factory 18's cost a ton more from the dealer than my Hiro's.

with most insurance companies you must buy additional issrance coverage and provide receipts or photos. my isurance covered mine with pictures just need to provide the manufacture and style. & size of couse.

If I were buying a set of Volks or something in that price range I would definitely call up my agent and find out what is required. It funny how bankers refer to your car as being the 2nd biggest investment you'll make (behind a house) for the average person. I don't think anyone ever imaged a set of wheels contending for 3rd on that list, lol.
depending on what Z trim you have, like track, the forged wheels are expensive as hell to begin with and you can go ahead and upgrade with telling them, because aftermarket wheels are close to that price!

Ahhh, but you are forgetting about depreciation and betterment. They will also shop for used wheels, just like we do as consumers. There is a huge data base on used parts for sale to the insurance industry.
The bottom line is that you must notify your company/agent that you have custom wheels or they will only cover what was stock. If you do add the wheels as special equipment, you will usually pay about $1 per hundred of value to cover them. Each company is different on what they require so just give them what you want.
Oh, I am an agent so I can say this with a fair amount of accuracy.
