Question about dealerships/ suggestions
So I just got an 05 z with 35k miles. I got it from an out of state bmw dealership. I asked the sales person if the tires and breaks were in good condition and she said yes that the car goes through extensive inspection to make sure everything is good. Even though I felt and saw this when I went to the dealership I still bought the car.
The left rear tire loses air very fast. I need to put air in it daily. I just got the car Monday.
Also the tires are shot. Dont dealerships needs to sell cars with good tires?
What do you guys suggest I do? I don't want to return the car I just want a car with good tires.
What can I legally do?
Thanks guys.

Go talk to the general manager at the dealership and express your complaints, if he blows you off go talk to a lawyer. Your state probably has a lemon law and the dealership is liable civilly if they violate it.

The vehicle says sold as is and 60 thousand miles power train warranty. I think they knew about the slow leak the tire has because the lady told me that they just put air in the tire because it was low. Being new to the car and not really paying attention to those things I let it go.
I got the car 2.5 hours away from where I live.

If they wanted to stand by their customer service they would likely plug the tire.
If not, they would tell you to pound sand.
Is it worth a 2.5 hr drive for a tire plug?
As for the tire tread. They would only need to give you something that would pass their local inspection. Nothing more.

if you raise hell with the dealership especially with the manager, they most likely will lean towards your favor to resolve a minor situation.
As for driving 2.5 hrs to plug a tire, it seems like not a good idea.
But if its an unfixable hole or completly worn tire that leaks air, then i suggest you go to a dealership for new tires.
If they dont, just say the words, "consumer affairs" or "BWM HEADQUATERS", those words might make them buckle.
Good Luck man

BMW wont do anything about it.
Again. how worn were these tires when you bought it? Its very likely they met the requirements and now you are pissed because you got a flat a week later.
Shouldnt have bought a used car.
Go get a new set of tires and enjoy the car!

I bought mine with horrible tires... but I knew I was modding anyway so it did not concern me. But yea they usually replace things when they need to be replaced. They usually "Inspect" used cars.

The dealership won't do anything about the worn out tires. They don't have to sell you a vehicle with good tires on it. Every dealer claims that they inspect each vehicle thourghly and spend lots of time and money doing it. It is rare that this actually happens, it is a marketing lie. I would take the tire to a tire center and get the flat fixed for 20 bucks.

The time to negotiate with the dealer is before you buy the car, not after. You inspected the car and bought it "as is" so the dealer assumes you are satisfied with the car's condition. As others have said even if you take the car back they will most likely put a plug in the tire and send you on your way. Even if they did decide to put on tires you can bet they will be el cheapo blems. Get yourself a good set of new tires and enjoy your new ride.

When I first purchased my car my whole family was told the same thing about the tires "They have been checked out and are good".
Before we signed off we made them look at them like we did and they acknowledged the tires were going bald. At this point the stealership wanted to add on a charge for new tires.
hours later we got them to put on new set of tires.
My recommendation is to argue how they would let a unsafe car off their lot. Its going to be even harder for you to argue though seeing how you took it home.

Maybe it's just me, but one of the first things I check on a used car is the tires. Maybe you should have done the same. It said sold as is. Call and see. If they want to be nice they'll plug it for free or maybe, but not likely, replace the tire. If they don't then that's their perogative.

I looked at a couple Z at dealerships. If its not a Nissan dealership then the sales people know little about the cars to begin with. I saw a 05 black Z at a ford dealership very low miles like 10,000. Went to look at the car and the inerior was well worn. The car had like 5 owners and was in 3 states the salesmen said it was common for this because of cars being sold at auctions. Test drove the car and the brakes would grab hard like they were locking up. Took the car out for a couple miles and the brakes were not right. Told the salesmen theres something wrong with the brakes and he said I was not used to driving a sports car there is nothing wrong with the brakes. I told him this was not my 1st Z I test drove and walked away.
