I got an auto because I knew if I got the manual I'd regret it. I can't be bothered the 5% of the time I would enjoy shifting.

your right akle works the gas pedal in either configuration... now left ankle may be an issue.

got an auto and glad I did. a lot of enthusiasts knock on us for it but at the end of the day, it's hardly any slower, a hell of a lot more convenient, and we shift perfect each time.

auto trans have come a long ways. my first car was a 68 camaro with an auto, and damn you could feel the delay in shifting. the Z shifts like a stick just takes a very slight performance hit.

I believe the official numbers for the 287hp models were 0-60 in 6.0 for auto and 5.7 for manual? I guess the end numbers arent all that important to me.

I also have a friend who knocks on my car because it's an auto, but whatever.. he drives a tiburon mt.. I'll take him any day

i have a manual but before i bought it my friend and i used to go drifting with his automatic Z. i gotta say auto tranny is impressive. doesnt shift too slow. pretty quick actually. BUT, it's a Z. so i would think it should b stick? haha that's just my opinion. i mean i only buy cars dat are manual bc i got into habit of driving stick.
and ur right about automatic on Z almost not looking natural. i think stick shift look so much better than auto shift ***** :P

My auto has been great, and I don't regret buying it, but for the last six months, I've only driven it in manual mode, so I guess that means I'm ready for another manual - but I'll never look down on the autos. To each his own. I'm watching the 370 thread very closely.

Piece of advice: Do your homework & search for posts on clunky MTs. You'll
find out that At's in our beaZts are FLAWLESS, with just 1 MPG less than the
manny tranny! I bought mine used ('O4 Touring Coupe, 13k, $2O,5OO!!!), and
am IN LOVE. In a heavy duty traffic jam, in city driving, etc., you'll be glad you got yourself a "Zee" with an auto tranny! Still, it's your call: go test drive
both & decide, dude.

Hey there is nothing wrong with the Tiburon, lol... I used to own one, for two years... good car. Upgrade the suspension/brakes and put on good tires and it handles just as good as any higher end sports car. Mine was a 6MT and I loved it but I was desparate for RWD (too desparate and settled on an auto ZR). I never tried the auto Tiburons but I heard they were slow so its a good thing your friend has the MT. But... the Z is still faster than the Tib by a decent amount (assuming he has the V6). A good driver with good tires and a good launch can get it 0-60 in about 7.1 seconds. I wish I had got a 6MT Z but couldn't find one in the entire year I was looking for one. Convertible only limited my options greatly though... But now i'm driving an hour to and from work every day and i'm kinda glad I have the auto right now. So I dunno...

Can't believe someone brought this thread back though....

Mine is supercharged with valve body updgrade....shifts are quicker and crisp, I thought the OEM auto shifts were quick enough...but dayum...you gotta do the valve body upgrade, its sooo worth it. Seems like the car jumps into gear at low speeds, at in manual mode, you feel all the power. The valvebody upgrade is a must for auto FI.

a Z is still a Z no matter what the gearbox is,"atleast to me anyway" I own an auto and love it I have driven my friend's manual 350 and love that too,It really comes down to your own taste in cars.......My first car I ever owned was a manual Integra and I swore back then I'd only ever drive sticks, but its nice to have an auto sometimes and I certainly don't regret it!!
