I have a A/T, I have no problems with it. I drive alot for work (160 miles a day to and from work) the 15 freeway SUCKS here in California... hell all the freeways suck in Cali..
On a side note I went on a drive with some of the guys from the site.. We met up on the 76 and we took a long *** drive and ended up way down by the 8.. those were some NICE roads to drive on.. I had no problems i didnt slow anyone down or have a problem keeping up.. at the end most of us ate at a Carls Jr. and talk about the trip.. when i mentioned i was in an Auto they seems shocked.. I just told them i kept it between 1st and 3rd on those crazy turns..

If you have no plans to drift an Auto is fine IMO.. but what do i know i also own a honda with a M/T that i drive to get my fix!

I woulda considered an AT Z...........if it weren't for the fact that my wife has an AT G35 Coupe. The G35 AT is a POS. At least on the '04's anyway. I am so disappointed with the G's AT, that I never even considered one for the Z. And no, it has never been in for repair. It is just a POS. Can't shift right, ever.

I think you will find that most auto enthusiasts and weekend sports car warriors will get the MT. The people that bought it more for looks and every day driving will lean towards the AT. I personally have an MT, but I'm not in constant stop and go traffic and my car gets garaged during the winter.

Auto transmission here, not regretting it -- i live in SoCal and the traffic here is awful sometimes. However, my next car will be a GTR and I'll be living in Oregon, so it really isnt a choice or something im thinking about.

when buying my 07 i had a choice between a carbon silver auto enthusiast or a black base after test driving both i was much more happy with the auto u have to option to cruise and relax and at the same time if u wanna open it up or down shift u have that option as well with the auto stick people can say whatever they want but im more then satisfied with my decision its really a matter of what makes you happy isnt that why we all bought our cars and as for moddin i have some big plans and having an auto isnt stopping me need to get back into the ball park of my prevoius car 2000 ls1 camaro full exhaust ,3.73 gears ,intake ,hypertech just the basics

only time auto is better is when the car is liek 800 or 900rwhp and extremly hard to shift. My freind had a 2006 auto and it felt very sluggish to me. It might just be in the mind but it was defintly boring the first gear felt like if i started in second lol. But it was smooth and very easy to drive i guess if u needed a auto and still wanted a z then what can u do. But i drive 50 miles to work in traffic for half the ride its not really bad at all. I also pulled 1 1/2 cars on his 06 with my 03 6spd stock vs stock and i only launched at 2000 lol

If the 350Z had a 6MT like the S2000 and RX8 do, sure I'd regret getting an AT. Otherwise, I love my 5AT, because the other option simply isn't reliable or good, imo.

Love my AT. Besides, it's too hard juggling the brew, the blunt and flippin my girl's bean if I have to worry about shifting all the time.

LOL
These topics are hilarious

So I have a question for the manual guys out there? If you had the chance to buy a GTR even though it doesn't have a clutch (or at least 90% of them won't, I read) would you guys get one. I mean I know it has the whole dual clutch thing but is basically an automatic with shift paddles. I know I would If I could.

I got the 5AT with my ZR, couldn't be happier. It all depends on what YOU want, what YOU are going to do to YOUR car.

All YOU have to do is think " Do I want an AT or MT? What mods am I doing to this car? Am I racing or is it just a DD? etc."

Go through all the regular car shopping questions you go through when looking for a car.

Even when you trade in the car, you will lose money regardless. If you wanted a manual but found a cheap auto, i would say keep looking. Don't rush when buying cars.
I haven't driven a stick in years. About 8 years ago I got into a drag race on an empty street and the other person lost control severely maiming themselves and flipped their car 6 times. They were trying to race me with a spare tire on their car. I wasn't found at fault, but I decided that after that incident I would never drive a stick again so I would avoid the temptation to race. So I bought automatics since then. Now that I am 31 years old the temptation to race is still there, but I've learned my lesson. I do still have a heavy foot I think I just may be intimidated with driving a stick. Don't ask me why.

I bought my AT b/c it was a great deal (got it for < trade-in, one owner, low mileage). Vs. all the others in town which were > retail...not to mention there are only a few 6spd. Z's in my town....I'd say there are about 6x as many auto's....

And the early cars M/T's broke a lot...so I'm glad I don't have one of those.

My next Z will be a 6spd...as long as the reliability remains good.

I <3 my auto! lol but MT's are much more fun to drive, but I couldnt handle it for DD, especially with the amount of city driving I do. I would only want an MT as a weekend car, not a DD

EDIT: I have less than 1 1/2 years left til this Z is paid off, and I plan on getting another Z, but this time an MT. AT for daily driving, and MT for fun! lol
