Wow, I've never seen them that big before! The fact that they show up in a pic is a testimony to how bad they are compared to my experience. If your adjuster is decent, they will have good advice. Usually the hood gets replaced and the rest are taken out with paintless dent removal. Mine cost $3-4k about 10 years ago (insurance paid) on a '94 ProbeGT when it was two years old. I'm GUESSING you've got at 2 to 3 times the damage price wise . Depends on if they replace panels or can remove the dents. I wish you the best of luck, seeing those pics makes me sad, especially the nicest looking color
Good luck and don't give up on it. If they do it right you will have a paint job that is more than twice the quality of factory. I complained about my Ford paint just 2 years into ownership and worked 5 miles away from work at the time with a once a month trip on the highway. I had a rock chip the size of a nickel on my hood and a dozen or so on the bumper. After it was painted, I drove it for 8 more years, the last 3 90% highway miles, over 100 miles a day to work and I traded it in with 164,000 miles without ONE scratch on the thing! Consider that too when you evaluate your situation. Modern factory paint sucks and it's possible you can still get it repainted to be very tough. All of your damage is cosmetic. If you still love your car try and get it fixed. Also, remember that if they total it you can buy it back. I can't give you advice on that though, maybe someone else can help explain all of your options.

Oh, yeah. I just noticed you said a month. Mine was 3 weeks. Part of that is because everyone in your town is getting the same thing done. My insurance only paid for a rental car so long. Start thinking of ideas from friends or family to minimize the hassle and cost of being without the Z for a month.

Generally no. Many states have laws against auto insurance companies selling vehicles. Its a recipe for fraud.

I went to the body shop today and they informed me that paintless dent repair is not a option. Every panel has to be replaced. Yet they said estimated damage was minimum 8500. 00

For some reason I see it being much more than that.

I know for a fact it is going to take ALOT of work just to replace the tail light because my entire trunk is molded

Take a look at will have to come out to change just the tail light.

I feel for you. Sue mother earth. $8,500 rip off. Bondo the damages, or put a wide body kit. Its way less than $8,500.

More states than not allow you to buy back a car that's been totalled.

It looks like everything is inside the trunk and nothing comes past the weather stripping. Your tail lights come out without taking anything out of the trunk. There is an access cap to a screw or two and the whole tail light assembly just slides off the body. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

to answer your question, if your insurance agent is allowing you to total the car, then defintiely take that option. You're right about the "natural disaster" thing - unfortuately that floods the market for cars going in for aesthetic repair. In this case, you are unfortunately screwed, as the insurance company will not be inclined to get you what you'll want, because they'll be so busy with the number of claims. Also if you try to sell it, you won't be the only one.

My sister had her '00 Civic completely redone - it was basically considered totalled (from hail damage in KS) and it has not sold for 2+ months. Those aren't hard cars to sell...

As they will be painting the whole car, you should pick a custom color.

They won't be painting the WHOLE car. To get the door jambs and all that kind of stuff to match he will have to pay extra beyond what the insurance pays. Not that easy to do either.
Depending on what method they are using any where from 1/2 to 3/4 of the car will get repainted and blended.
