I got dropped at the dealership and kinda learned that way. I had a general idea and had done it before but the Z is kinda touchy compared to a 04 Mustang GT.

Gonna sound kinda weird, but I do this by reflex.

I know our cars have heavy flywheels, so when I start from a complete stop, I tap the gas very quick just to jump the rpms to 2k, then I begin releasing the clutch. Basically the momentum from the flywheel is starting me off. Then, as I release the clutch and rpm's drop, I give gas. It makes for extremely smooth starts.

That sounds like a good way if you're a beginner but wouldn't constantly doing that waste gas?

I adjusted mine 4 years ago to engage 1" off the floor. Full engagement is about 2/3 pedal now. More like all the other clutched vehicles I've owned.
It was difficult going from me JEEP-Bird-Truck and then to the Z in the same day. It was much higher than I liked so I just adjusted it to my liking. You just have to make sure that you have full disengagement and full engagement during the linkage travel. It took a couple hours of fiddling with it to get it just right but, in the end it was worth it. I love how it works now. I had to add a secondary spring to get the feel just right. I'm used to a heavier feel in my clutches. Next CF Dual Friction and some more performance upgrades. JWT are nice but .... a bit costly.

My Z was my first MT car also, i did have some practice on other manual things so i got the basics down. Wasnt too crazy about the Z's release point and that its almost an ON/OFF switch but once i got use to it i loved it
