Default How to tell if the Z is early or late 2004?

Can someone please tell me how to tell if a Z is a early or late 2004 model. If I am not mistaken, the early 04 Z's had transmission and alignment problems, correct? I am bidding on a 04 and 05 Z tommorrow, and I only want the 2004 if it is a late model. I'm sorry if this has been discussed a lot, but I searched for a few different things and couldn't find my answer. It would really help me a lot if somebody could tell me how to tell before tommorrow.

Here is the VIN# of the car in question, I don't know if you can tell from that or not: JN1AZ34E84T060603

Thank you guys for any help.

Here's one of the many posts on the 2004.5 distinction...

https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/284962-what-makes-it-a-5-a.html

Search for the term 2004.5 and you'll find all kinds of threads that discuss the differences, problems, etc.

Thanks a lot man I appreciate it. I didn't know the term used for the late 04's was 2004.5 or else this would have been a lot easier, lol.

First of all, I did search. If you ready my posts you would know that. You try searching for it without knowing the term "2004.5".
Secondly, your wrong. Some early models had kneepads, too.

why dont you just look at the production date. .1-5 of 04 is early 2004 model. .6-12 of 04 supersedes to 2005 model .. well thats how it is when i have to order OE parts for cars. .but if u call the dealer talk to parts dep....give them the vin and they will tell you!

Not really, the 04 production dates start around 9/03. The swapover to the 2004.5 models happened around 01/04. No need to call the dealer, the manuf. date is stamped on the label on the drivers door jamb.
